此类骗子骗人的手法是，所谓的支票是假的，寄出假支票之后，他就让人去你处，取走你想要出售的东西（这不，他说他的机票与个人旅行津贴都在其中，等他到了你这里再向你要回），再要求你退还支票内多余的钱款。就常理而言，人们决不会向不熟识者寄出超过应该支付的数额的钱款，可是此类骗子就是利用了某些人们贪小便宜的个性而得手的。

毫无疑问，骗子的母语是英语，但却假装成英语不是很好的样子，故意露出很多处语法上的破绽，以诱人上钩。
