如果前生我是一只受伤的大雁，

一定是你们把我医好送回蓝天。

我绕着山寨依依不舍地飞啊飞啊，

鸣叫着许下知恩必报的诺言。

If I were a wounded swan in a former life,   

It must have been you who mended me and sent me back to the blue sky.

Circling high over your mountain village to say my heart-rending bye, 

I made a promise to return the favor in a cry.

如果前生我是一只呢喃的燕子，

一定在报春的花季借住在你家屋檐下。

阿爸阿妈精心呵护让彼此成了芳邻，

真真情谊一直温暖我赶春的心。

If I were a cooing swallow in my former being,

 I must have nested under your eaves during glorious spring.

Your loving care for me made me feel like we were family,

A feeling that felt in that chilly early spring so heart-warming.

如果前生我是一只漂亮的蝴蝶，

一定是你们把我从贪玩村童的手里释放。

我沿着春的原野一路飞到你家花树下，

秋来变成蛹冬来留下梦。

If I were born a beautiful butterfly in my former life,

From the mischievous village boy’s hands you must have released me to free flight.      

 I followed spring greens all the way to the blossoming tree by your house,      

 And called it home to me, my child and my child’s child.

如果前生我是一只可爱的小金鱼，

一定是你们把我从搁浅的水洼送回小河。

我沿着溪水寻梦游完金色的一生，

把唯一的心愿留在那段熟悉的河口。

If I were a cute little gold fish in my former beat, 

From a locked-up shallow back to the stream you must have set me free.

 I chased all my life’s dreams up and down that brook,

 But left my only wish where the shallow and the deep meet.

于是在轮回中我有了做人的今生，

在感恩的缘分里和父母相逢。

父母尽职尽责把我抚养成人，

我尽心尽孝让父母颐养天年。

So it is that the wheel of reincarnation has spun me a human for the present,

 Whereby crossing my gratitude-filled path with yours again as my parents.     

You did your utter best in bringing me up,      

The prospect of loving and caring for you ever after feels to me so pleasant.
