International office said it would take 3-6 months to change F2 to J1 in the
United States. But it will take 1-2 months if I go back to China to change
the status. Does anyone know how to make it faster in the US? Thanks.

非BSO. 要是你是 a fresh phd from a top10 cs department, 有 Amazon and eBay
的 research scientist offers (做 applied research), 同时有 Goog and Facebook
software engineer
offers, 不考虑工资差异, 单纯从 career path 角度将, 你选哪个?
揪解的原因是: SDE 满街都是, 虽然赚钱不比 research scientist 少, 但是PhD专业
算废了, 以后就纯码工了, 要是若干年后回国, 总不能吹自己是SDE 吧. Scientist 的
title 好听, 也能用到PHD的专长, 以后回国还可能弄个 sr. scientist or director
research 当当.是不是公司里, scientist 也更受重视些? 不过也看过有人说:
industry position == 码工, no matter what title.不知道是不是夸张了...
换句话说,是选 job title 还是选风头劲的公司呢? 没有公司混的经验, 所以请过来
人给些建议吧, 谢先!

see each other again. (the cops are in their house).
It just broke my heart.

还用想么?既然都选择去industry了，除非以后还想回学校，否则scientist的头衔，只
是自己感觉爽, facebook是首选阿。

there isn't so much of a career path at any of those companies. if u r
interested in research, then u have the wrong targets. if u want to get rich,
fb is ur best chance.

rich,
u can't get rich by joining FB today, it's long gone. u can make a small
fortune though.

if he gets enough money early, he can do whatever he wants. Maybe he can
start his own biz. take facebook IMO.

其实Amazon, eBay, Goog, Facebook 这四个公司都不错，任何一个都好。
我曾接触过Amazon搞Data Mining（web analytics）的人，觉得他们做的东西很不错，
也很实用。Google做Research的人我也有认识，他们工作比起Software Engineer来有
比较大的自由空间。eBay和Facebook我就不知道了。
至于job title的问题（Scientist vs Software Engineer），我觉得这个title 是很
重要的－－我以前认为是什么job title不重要，我现在发现我错了。HR,
headhunters,and upper-level managers看人首先是看job title。job title不对的话
，首先就把你排除掉。
从Scientist转Software Engineer,人家会觉得你这人不实在，不会写code，尽搞些空
想、没有用的东东。
从Software Engineer转Scientist，人家会觉得你不够有创造力，没有publications.
总的来说，转job title不是想象的那么容易。
至于你应该到底去哪里，我觉得要看你的"risk attitude".如果你想take risk，我觉
得去Facebook这种公司会是上选，因为弄得第一桶金后，以后生活压力就不会那么大了
。如果你想保险一点，那就选Scientist的路，生活其实很boring，钱也不多，但能吃
饱饭。
个人一见而已。
