Once an American journalist went to a market place in Bangkok. He saw 3 statues of the Buddha, sitting, walking, and standing; he liked them all so he bought all of them.
He told a Thai acquaintance about it later, and he asked: can I see them?
The American said sure, and showed him the statues. The Thai was puzzled, and asked: Why do you want these statues? The American said: because they are beautiful. The Thai asked: Do you know what the walking Buddha was for?
American: No. I thought the Buddha is walking meditating.
Thai: It's for guarding the crop in your field for harvest.
American: Hmm. How about the sitting Buddha meditating?
Thai: It's for getting good grades in your high school equivalence exam.
American to self: Thank goodness. I did very well in my high school equivalence exam.
