It's employer's responsibility to keep I-9 updated. However, there's no such burden on employee. The H1B becomes invalid automatically when LZ becomes PR because H1B is a non-immigrant benefit which cannot be applied to a LPR. There is no need to withdraw H1B. Regarding LZ's original question, since you are PR now, your employment is authorized, you have no responsibility to help the employer to keep their I- 9 updated.You can choose to be nice and inform them but you don't have to, it won't harm you either way.

you should tell your employer to update i9 asap, it is your responsibility, there may be some tax issue involved. The employer may have to change some tax codes on you because of the status change.
