宝宝爸爸去年5月初新到一家公司工作，公司政策是工作满一年后可以享受3个星期的
parental leave。宝宝今年4月底预产期,我们一直以为如果宝宝4月底出生之后的那几
天，我们可以先用宝宝爸爸的personal leave抵上，让后5月初就可以用parental
leave 了。
宝宝爸爸今天给HR的人大电话，被告知宝宝出生日期一定要在5月初之后，宝宝爸爸才
能请parental leave. 一旦宝宝出生日期早一点点，parent leave 就完全泡汤了。
我们现在脑子有点蒙，有点看着银子变成水的感觉。而且宝宝爸爸觉得特对不起宝宝。
请问有经验的宝爸宝妈，我们这种情况还可能有周旋的余地吗？（我们现在当然祈祷宝
宝淡定，晚点出来，否则就早这么一天两天的３个星期的带薪假就白白飞了，太亏了。

parental leave都是不带薪的。

是吗？我lg有2个月的不带薪parental leave. 但是公司规定必须先用完所有的假期
才能上parental leave.

还有公司根本不给假的，连unpaid都没有／／理解心情，但别过分看重了

it is not a big deal. many new father don't even have paternity leaves.
how is that? that does not lessen his duty to take care of the newborn.
for many companies, the salary during the leave is paid by an insurance
company. you will probably have to call the insurance company in addition to
HR. though, it is unlikely they will bend the rules just for you.
but again, no big deal, take it easy. having a healthy baby and safe
delivery is the most important thing, anything else is not.

各个公司不一样的。当然有就不错了。

Dad feels bad because if he does not have the leave, he won't be able to
take care of the baby as much as he would if he had the leave. But you are
right, we will deal with that. We do not have parents coming to help but
mom has at least 3 months' leave so we should be Ok. Thanks.

满一年才有,当然按规定来啦.这些没商量的,正如你所说,那是银子,哪有那么容易放到
你口袋呢.

呵呵，这说的对！都想要这雪花花的银子啊！只是觉得可能就差1，2天，银子就在我们
口袋里了，所以上来问问，以防我们脑子短路忽略了有可能存在的解决办法。

it depends on whether he is willing to overload himself (and by how much).
there are plenty of things for him, like taking the night shift, bathing the
baby (needs at least 2 people), shopping, cooking, cleaning ....
to help but
the first couple of weeks will be tiring, for both of you, I imagine. but it
will be getting better and easier. good luck!

How feasible is it for the dad to take the night shift given that mom will
breast feed anyway? Also Dad has very long commute on weekdays: getting out
of door at 7:45am and get back in door near 7pm. So I doubt even an iron
man could take much of a night shift given such a crazy schedule...

我家宝爸根本就木有假，连unpaid都木有。周末生的，宝爸用了自己两天假期之后就去
上班了。。。我妈在家照顾我

我老公也没带薪的产假，一天都没有，只能先用PTO，用完才能用family leave，但是是
unpaid的

我们没有父母帮忙，所以有点一下子有点乱了阵脚的感觉哈。回头查查有没有unpaid
leave。有也行啊，没有还真是得赶快找保姆了。宝宝妈妈接受不了月嫂。。。

FMLA, which is the federal law, guarantees that everyone has 12 weeks of
unpaid leave given the company has more than 50 personals and the employee
has worked for more than 12 month, regardless of father or mother

Our problem is that we probably are going to several days short of 12 months
because Dad joined the company early last May but baby's due date is late
this April. :( Otherwise, Dad would have three weeks of paid parental leave
according to the company's policy.

我们单位的paternity leave 也是unpaid。有一次我们组的一个男同事跑过来问我关于
maternity/paternity的事（因为我那时刚休完maternity leave）说他也想take一个月
的，后来发现是unpaid，他就不take了。

啊，妈妈都没有产假？！那刚生的时候怎么办呢？

我们现在很可能 unpaid leave都不能休了，因为宝爸在宝出生的时候工作还差几天才
满一年...:(

下面有为ＭＭ说了，ＦＭＬＡ规定，雇员５０人以上的公司必须允许工作满１２个月的
人 up to 12 week family leave. 我刚才去查了一下，的确是这样的。

嗯谢谢mm，仔细看了一眼，发现其实宝爸是换新工作不满12个月。。。就差半个月 :-(
