Rumors of BIG Changes to the Chase Freedom Coming Soon!!
rumor has it that there’s allegedly a new Chase product coming next month,
The Chase Freedom Unlimited, that will replace the existing product that we
know (and I love) today.
This is what it will supposedly look like:

The improvement is that there will be the ability to earn 1.5% cash back on
every purchase, but notice how there’s no mention of the 5x rotating
quarterly bonus categories, a feature that I consider to be the absolute
most valuable component to the card (last quarter you even had the ability
to earn 22,500 bonus points at Amazon.com!)
What’s also uncertain is that there’s no guarantee that the new product
will offer “cash back” in the form of Ultimate Rewards points that can be
combined with the amazing and flexible Ultimate Rewards points from the
Sapphire Preferred and Ink products (learn more about the “trifecta” here).
Strong rumors say that this product will be replaced immediately in all
Chase branches by March.
What will happen to existing customers?
The good news is that existing customers who have the old Freedom card will
stay in the existing product (whew, a card I will keep forever).
The bad news is that while the new Freedom Unlimited card appears to be an
better “everyday” cash back card than it already is (1.5x vs 1x), the
removal of the 5x option really hurts our ability to work towards free
travel.
What now?
Pat yourself on the back if you have the original Freedom card. If not, it
is highly recommended that you consider getting the no-annual fee card that
offers 5x on rotating quarterly bonus categories.

如果1.5%是ultimate rewards points，能和sapphire/ink plus combine的话，岂不也
是张神卡？可以取代double cash，spg等众多卡了。
ua的那张年费395的卡，也不过1.5的miles，
所以觉得是1.5 纯cash back可能性比较大。。。

搞不清楚说转完神卡的人咋想的，转完毫无撸点啊根本，就算是1.5的ur跟DC有啥区别
没5%没法churn开卡能撸多少ur, 1.5和1有啥区别。

如果1点ur算1.65美分的价值，必须要保留csp，年费95刀。要想舍弃2%的卡如double
cash的话，需要每年花费 95/(0.015*1.65-0.02)=20,000刀。
考虑到其他各种5%的卡，以及其他开卡消费的话，在1.5% freedom上面纯粹消费20,000
刀，还是有难度的。

大多数人只有一张freedom，如果有第二张的话，有相当多是由csp或者slate转的。如
果是由csp转的话，要想再申请一张csp的话，在5/24规则下挺难的。
我有三张freedom（从几年前的csp和slate各转了一张)和一张csp，我觉得象我这样的
已经极少了。但是我依然觉得1.5%的freedom不算神卡。我有多少消费需要用于完成开
卡bonus啊。
