五年多前那个搞nano的daniel kwok(mechanical engineering)因一搞两投乱用funding被Alberta请走。只有Calgary这种学校会收容这样的人with academic dishonest.

目前情况如下，旧单位的DS表到明年六月到期，但是上周五已经终止合同。
新单位的正式OFFER上要求本周一开始上班，新旧单位的 paper work transfer 手续
已经办完
但是新单位现在说我不能上班，因为还有一个学位认证没有到位，不能发DS表。
WES的学位认证现在正在受理中，因为新单位的手续很繁琐，认证办理通知的有点晚。
现在的问题是，旧单位工作已经结束，新单位就等这个认证，那我现在是不是已
经属于GAP期。
问题
1就算过两天学位认证完成，新的DS表下来，是不是我也不能上班，必须回国
2新的DS 下来，我是不是要回国返签，还是开始2年得服务期
3还是说因为有这个GAP，新单位都不会给我新的DS表了呢
乱七八糟，谁能帮忙解释一下，我该怎么办

argue了很久无效。
现在就要报税了，对于其他J1签证的中国同事，他们都收到了1042-S表，而我也没有，
问payroll的人，他们说因为我不适用于中美treaty，所以连这个表都没有。
那请问我该怎么报税呢？我就不用交1042-S表了么？还是说我自己从IRS网站上下载一
个这样的空白1042-S表，然后自己填了交上去？

1. 3400 China PERM with PD 2007 were approved after July 2007.
2. Many people got married in the past five years.
These two factors can easily add up to 5000 extra demand in 2007.

Hehe. I wrote the reply, but do not think that is a good university either.
Just feel that to be better than a lot of obscure comm colleges,
which are ironically included in the list.
Hilariously, one participant of the gov't list writing turns out to be
somebody around this board defending the list.
Btw, is it very cold in Calgary?

既然transfer已经做完了，应该就没啥问题了吧。不过如果不能办新的DS表，这样也能
做完所有的transfer？有点奇怪。很复杂，你问问你们单位的负责人吧。

最近有人贴了篇文章，根据该文估算， PD在2007年八月以前，没递上485 （miss

I heard Calgary offended the Chinese government by hosting Dali Lama. But it

Talk to your ISO.
If you have further questions, talk to USCIS officer through Infopass, I
understand you just wait and do not need leave USA.

中美之间的treaty, 要求你在获得J签证前至少在中国居住一年。你不符合，就没有
treaty了。

几个星期前开会碰见一个那里的教授，因为招研究生说起了这事情，据说今年
Calgary在中国根本没招到什么学生，尤其是本科生。的确如你所说，完全是因为达赖
喇嘛的原因，U of Calgary邀请他来访问了几天，还给丫发了个荣誉博士学位，终于惹
恼了中国政府，有一段时间，凡是从中国大学的电子邮箱发到U of Calgary的电子邮件
都被过滤了，那教授是搞石油的，说U of Calgary有几个跟中石油，中石化的合作项目
（千万级别的funding）也被无限期推迟或者中断了，损失惨重，真他妈愚蠢，还是缺
乏跟共产党打交道的经验，不过，U of Calgary无论如何还不到野鸡大学的地步。

That's really sad. Education is not 'supposed' to be so political. US and
Canadian universities did not turn down applications from Chinese students
back in the 1980's because they were 'communist'.

suspend和terminate contracts也就罢了，如果是因为这个拒绝承认卡大是“正规大学
”，那比较过份。
国外大学多得很，想出国留学的中国学生也不差这一所。不过要是一直不承认，这个学
校毕业的和正在读的中国学生海归这条路就不用想了。

This is pretty bleak propspect so I have no idea why ppl are partying here

good point that education should not be political but bad logic. UoC made a political move and showed disrespect to the CCP. for that reason they got
disrespect from the CCP back. it's betwen UoC and the CCP, not between UoC and chinese students (they can still go there if they want).
in the 1980s, it's between political regimes (as it is now), not between
universities and students. what reason do they have to not accept chinese
students?

computers, monitors, printers, a smartphone, an iPod, AMG aluminum wheels

中美之间的treaty, 要求你在获得J签证前至少在中国居住一年。你不符合，就没有

I am esp. confused why ppl believe next year we will clear 07 backlog
This seems highly impossible for me
adding back all those <07/07 pd that missed the 07 window, and indian eb3-eb
2 upgrade, we need at least another 20K+ spillover to just advance to the en
d of 07/06
;not to say 07/07 and 07/08
without another huge spillover next year, Chinese EB2 cannot advance to even
07/06
This is really bleak prospect

影响没那么大。如果我是雇主，我听说过u calgary,还不错，我就会招里面的人，这跟
他在不在教育部名单里面没关系，我也不会去查教育部名单。我如果没听说过U
CALGARY,它即使在教育部名单里面对我也不会有太大吸引力，因为那个名单里面什么烂
校都在，包括社区大学。
教育部那个名单只对西太平洋大学这类不算学校的学校有点影响。

you can always be optimistic.
I got the worst story.
Before I got GC, I was laying on my bed thinking whether I should marry my
gf so
that she can get on the boat the same time.
Of course, the answer was negative and we ended up married after I got my GC.
At that time, I thought GC's I-130 petition takes a long time and should be
longer than Eb2. She is lucky to submit 485 before 2007/7. So I thought I
don't need to file I-130 since for sure she will get Eb2 approved faster.
How wrong I was. Family-based PD was moving like crazy last year and I filed
130 like many others. The FB2A moved just one day shy of the priority for
the 130 befor it retrogressed to prehistoric level.
Now I got stuck with the decision of whether to file citizenship next month.
I am sure that with my luck, once I got the citizenship, my wife's Eb2 will
be approved.

呵呵，有几个08 or 07/11 PD 出来问问什么时候能排到交485结果把冷静派给引出来了
。做保守估计没问题，但那也是估计，你对于今年究竟有多少SO明年有多少或者没有的
相关消息有什么确实依据吗？如果没有就不要那么理直气壮出来给人泼冷水，觉得这个
版关心的人多了还是怎么的，多一些人关心有什么不好。

也未必，如果大使馆不给u calgary的学生开留学证明的话，学生就惨了，我估计很多
中国学生在琢磨着转学了。

Plus, lots of perm cases from Atlata center were audited and did not
submit 485 applications.

re. 这个问题本来就是U of Calgary先用政治化的手段主动挑衅，作为一个国家政党，
在涉及国家主
权的问题上做出反击也是应该的。我虽然不支持我党，但UoC是主动明确地ask for it.

U of Calgary还是Stephen harper的母校的，据我一个从那里本科毕业出来的朋友说，
学校里面崇拜Stephen harper的人超级多，而且每年额外的经费也多。
Alberta总共就三所大学，那里出来的在那边很好找工作的。周六刚和一个三年没见的
特地从Calgary飞过来的朋友吃了个饭，然后听说来的，哈哈。
