Job Description
VMware the Global Leader in Enterprise virtualization is embarking on the
cloud journey with private, hybrid and public cloud offerings. At cloud
scale, the need for enhanced and richer resource abstraction, resource
aggregation and dynamically distributing the resources to meet the
constantly changing workload demands while achieving maximum consolidation
and fast provisioning will be very crucial and critical.
Distributed Resource Scheduling (DRS) has thus far been able to deliver the
above mentioned objectives successfully at the vCenter Cluster level for all
the resources (CPU, memory, storage, network etc.) in the enterprise data
center. As Cloud computing initiatives evolve, the next frontier for our
team is to provide Resource Management capabilities at the cloud scale with
maximum elasticity and agility to achieve IaaS and PaaS objectives.
Another main tenet of cloud resource management is to provide SLA guarantees
to the VMs in terms of Application level performance, Storage IO guarantees
, burst capability and availability.
As a senior member of the Cloud Resource Management team you will be
expected to lead the team in the design, architecture and implementation of
high quality, well-architected software products with specific focus on
clustering, distributed systems, scalability, elasticity and SLA guarantees.
In this role you are expected to interact with Senior Architects, Product
Managers, Solution Architects and sometimes with Partners and customers to
discuss and collaborate strategies for enhancing features and to come-up
with the next generation products. Apart from strong technical skills, it is
a requirement for the candidate to understand the competition, market space
and latest technological trends. Critical thinking and Strong leadership
skills is a must as the candidate will be involved in leading a team and
making crucial road map decisions.
Performance Objectives:
• Deliver high quality, well-architected system software products
• Responsible for developing new products and solutions based on an
enterprise-class virtualization platform
• Duties will include design, implementation, testing, and debugging
Competencies:
• Bachelors degree in computer science or Masters preferred
• Experience with Distributed systems and specifically high
availability platforms
• Experience implementing Finite-State-Machine/Event-Driven designs
• Experience with objected oriented system design, design patterns a
plus
• Knowledge of Virtualization solutions desirable
• Knowledge of Machine Learning is a plus
• Knowledge of WebService, SOAP/WSDL interface preferred
• Strong analytical, debugging and C++/Java coding skills
• Experience with designing simulators for testability is a plus
• Must possess a good sense of performance tradeoffs and optimizations
