It’s hard not to save at least $25 or more this coming week on the newest
smartphones, but don’t just buy the first phone you see with an insanely
cheap price: There are only a handful of smartphones you should consider.
After you pick the one that fits you best from my handy list of top
smartphones (you’re welcome!), it’ll be time to find where you can get it
for the best price.
I’ve gathered some of the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals for my
top picks—and my top picks only. Here are the deals:
iPhone 6 (Regularly $199 with a two-year contract)
This coming Friday through Sunday Walmart WMT -0.53% will offer the 16GB
iPhone 6 for $179 with a two-year contract. The retailer will even throw in
a $75 gift card.
It will also offer the iPhone 5S, which is the best budget iPhone you can
get, for $79 with a two-year contract. Add in the $75 Walmart gift card that
comes with it and you’re getting the 5S for just $3.
Target will also offer the 16GB iPhone 6 for $180 with a two-year AT&T T +0.
35% contract.
If you want a bigger capacity iPhone, Sam’s Club is the place to go. It is
offering $100 off all three models: 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.
On Black Friday Best Buy BBY -1.26% will also offer the 16GB iPhone 6 for
just $99 when you sign up for a two-year Verizon VZ -0.32%, Sprint S +4.09%
or AT&T contract. It’s not as good as the other deals, though, because it
requires you to trade in an older working iPhone—one that you can get
credit for at most carriers anyway.
Moto X (Regularly $499 unlocked, $100 with two-year contract)
On Cyber Monday, Motorola will offer $140 off an unlocked version of the
Moto X on Motorola.com. That would make the 16GB version of the phone $360.
Now that’s a deal!
It will also offer the Verizon model, which will be getting the Android 5.0
update this week, for $0.01 when you sign up for a two year contract. The
deal is only available at Motorola.com.
On Friday, the Droid Turbo, which has a better camera and bigger battery yet
much thicker body, will be $99 with a contract at Verizon.
Samsung 005930.SE +0.92% Galaxy Alpha (Regularly $199 with a two-year
contract)
If you want a smaller Android phone, Best Buy has my top choice for just $1
with a two-year AT&T contract. Buy it online and shipping is free.
OnePlus One (Regularly $299 without contract)
No, you can’t get the unlocked OnePlus One for any less on Friday—the hard
-to-find phone is already one of the best values there is. But you can
actually get it. While the phone is usually offered only via invite, on
Friday the company will hold a three-day sale.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Regularly $299 with two-year contract)
On Friday, Verizon will offer the Galaxy Note 4 for $199 with a two-year
contract. (I didn’t spot any other Note 4 carrier deals.)
At Best Buy, if you sign up for Sprint Easy Pay, Verizon Edge, AT&T Next,
you’ll get a $50 Best Buy gift card when you purchase the Note 4. That said
, be careful when signing up for those early-upgrade plans.
