Looking for Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G or Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM for
Nikon AF. Where to find the deals? Which one is better? Any comments? Thanks

31号之前tamron好像有rebate。可以察察看。
nikon的5014g估计很难降价。我刚买了个在BH上得。409

IMPORT 就是BH 直接向NIKON FACTORY 进的货,不通过NIKON USA

get a Nikkor 50mm 1.4 D

1.4D is $90 less than the G version at B&H, I still use D40 which does not
have built-in motor.

If you have D40, you shouldn't get the 50mm prime. Instead, get the much
cheaper 35mm/1.8G. You will be very happy about the result.
50mm is a bit awkward to use on DX format (it's a little too long inside the
house and a bit too short outside the house). 35mm is perfect focal length.

Tried 35mm 1.8G and was a bit disappointed. 50mm is good for portrait for
D40, and 1.4 is good for low light/fast moving.

5014g is really good one as a portrait lens on DX.
it is worth the price and will keep its value for pretty long time.
if you are better off later, it is also working great on FX!

Wow I am surprised to hear that you are disappointed by 35mm f 1.8G. I am
very happy with my copy and on paper it's as sharp as the 50mm F 1.4 besides
the difference in available DOF.
