Chesapeake Energy's stock has declined 43% year-to-date.
On the back of a UBS stock downgrade, Chesapeake Energy has fallen to new 52
-week lows last week.
The UBS downgrade appears to be ill-timed and, as far as I am concerned,
carries little significance.
I am going to stay long Chesapeake Energy and will buy more shares on an
opportunistic basis.
I am a big Chesapeake Energy bull (NYSE:CHK). In fact, I have bought more
shares in recent months when Chesapeake Energy's stock has been on sale. The
stock has lost 62% of its value over the last twelve months, which can be
hard on investors determined to sit the downturn out. Year-to-date,
Chesapeake Energy is down 43%, a horrifying number by any measure, and the
stock now trades close to its 52-week low at around $11. Chesapeake Energy's
share chart looks truly depressing:
