。最低至2%（残忍吧？）。
举个例子：2005年100,000 new TiVo subscribers的$100 rebates，只有一半的
subscribers寄回表格并拿到了REBATE。TiVo公司就此一项就赚到$5 million.

我的paycheck/2 weeks每次都给扣了100多块钱的FICA税，请问FICA是什么税？能否返
回？
我是国内博士毕业H1B签证过来的；同行的一个同学是J1，她却没有扣这个项目。

本人国内的金融小本毕业，刚拿到绿卡，我同时申请了 Baruch 的会计 Master , St.
john's 的会计 Master 和 Baruch 本科第二会计学位。
现在的情况是 Baruch 的会计硕士把我 REJ 了，但是他的本科会计第二学位把我录
取了。我还拿到 St.john's 的会计硕士录取。
因为有绿卡所以付的是州内学费， Baruch 的本科一个学期 2300 ，要读两年，也就
是四个学期，总学费是 2300 乘以四= 9200.
St.john's 是私立大学，有无绿卡付的学费都是一样，920 一个学分，一共修 33 个学
分，总学费=30360.
我现在比较迷茫，我的计划是希望将来能够找到一份工作，因为金融根本找不到工作所
以转会计，请问我现在该怎么选择？

social security/medicare收的税，养老税或者失业保险。
H1签证来了就是税法意义上的resident alien，而J1前两年是税法意义上的non－
resident alien，前者要交FICA，后者不用。

多谢!但是已经另外扣了 social security和medicare,那估计这个就是养老或者失业保
险吧. 不知道这个扣的钱能不能取消,或者离开美国的时候可否要回来?多谢!

Baruch 本科第二会计学位. Your finance degree, along with Baruch's accounting
major, will have an edge.
Baruch's undergraduate is very famous. When speaking of Baruch, people refer
to Baruch's undergraduate program. Leave room for your future, once you
finish school and gain experience, you can apply much better graduate
program.

Medicare顾名思义是社会医疗保险
作为Resident alien，这两个税是强制性的，在你退休之前拿不回来

其实我隐瞒了情况，那就是我已经拿了一个商科的硕士学位，可惜这个学位不是会计
，很难找工作。

MM,我个人意见尽供参考。 BARUCH 的本科和硕士的ACCOUNTING的专业课差不多学的是
一样的课（可能是一样的）。很多时候BARUCH 硕士的会计毕业生并不比本科有优势。
如楼上所说，BARUCH 本科声誉在NYC地区还不错，优势是学费便宜。你两年就能毕业，
和学个硕士时间是一样的。在找工作上BARUCH 的本科和硕士没有什么特别大的区别。
我不知道St.John's 的会计硕士PROGRAM 的声誉如何,往届毕业生找到工作的几率如何
。这两个学校的本科和硕士学位对找工作时差别大不大，你可以向这学校的校友打听一
下。

you have to take master, otherwise you can't take cpa exam.
BTW, you should apply accounting MBA in baruch, MS acct only for those who
has acct BS.

MSA in St John,Don't go to Baruch. as what I heard from friends, Baruch
Accounting Program is extremely hard at under, The average is C+, which
means half students will get C+， most of students are chinese, very hard
working. a cost accounting class with 80 students at beginning, at the end
of final, only 25 students in class, the rest has dropped the class, too
hard. go to St John, although it is expensive, but the job placement is
almost same, because of baruch cheap tuition, attracting many a

拿C+是根本没复习的人。7楼就不要为懒人辩护了。我COST ACCT可是拿A的，不过倒不
是说我就真那么强是了，学过就忘。CPA=Can't Pass Again。。。

搞反了。据说如果你读了BARUCH的会计本科，他们是不会（或不建议）让你再读BARUCH的
会计硕士滴。因为BARUCH的会计本科和硕士会计专业课是一样的，让你重读一遍一样的
课程没有意义。
如果本科所需学分够本州CPA考试的要求，就可考Cpa考试。并不需要会计硕士学位才可
考。

with MS degree? Which MS pay slightly higher for the first few years of work.

I would say don't be short-sighted for the tiny short-term monetary return.
Save your master degree for future after clearly thinking twice on what kind
of master degree and what field is your best pursuit. You may find
accounting is not as interesting as you thought. You may make a switch then.
Locking yourself in MS Accounting is probably not a wise decision while
also having a BS in accounting.

MBA accounting can finish within 2 years. BS accounting need 3 to 4 year.
Plus if you decide to change in the future. MS change to MS is easier than
BS change to MS. Right?

How many MS do you want? Wisely planing a career path that won't be
criticized by recruiter is important. Why do not you get a MS in Accounting
because you want to take CPA and then a MS in CIS because you want to take
CISA and another MS in Forensic Accounting because you want to take CFE??
For me, I won't get a MS in accounting and then get another MS or MBA.
Market is getting tougher and tougher. Think wisely before any decision.
Also, I do not support the view that accounting can be classif

care. "menatplay1" did not mention he/she wants to go on PHD.
What I try to point out is if you need CPA, take the master. Since you have
a BS from China, another BS from Baruch is useless, If he/she point out he/
she has two BS on the resume, which can bring ton of questions on the
interview.
Plus. please go over the Baruch school of business we

Baruch's MSA does not welcome those who has BS/BA in Accounting until
recently. Have you ever heard about this?

Oh. Baruch change their requirement, now any business major BS is welcome to
their MSA. What a money maker. So MSA is better than MBA accounting since
MSA is cheaper in tuition and take the same damn courses. But I though "he"
has been rejected by the MSA. What other choice left?

That's why I suggested going for A BA in accounting under the assumption
that St. John's Program is not considered.
Spending two years to meet the 150 credits from BA program is not a bad
investment. Also, lz already has master degree in business. The ultimate
goal is meeting CPA education requirement only.

Baruch的under job placement还是不错的，身边的很多朋友都在JP,CITI,等等大型银
行和零售行业找到实习，竟然能pay到25一小时。

1.It doesn't matter whether you are bachlor or master to obtain a job,
however the starting salary might be different.
2.Make sure you have 150 credit hours and among those credits, you have
certain courses for CPA exam.
3.If your background is good enough, try ST Johns' RA/TA assitantship. If
you can get that, free for a master, why you need to go a second degree of
bachelor?
