PS: sharing some of my interview experience with xdjms who are going through
the recruiting process.
For the auditing practice, they focus A LOT on testing your abilities to
work on teams. So make sure you prepare several examples of being a team
player or leader.
For the self-introduction part, demonstrate your communication skills and
people skills, those will be what they are looking for.
I just interviewed with one of the big 4 companies, so my experience could
be limited. From my perspective, communication skills and ability to work on
teams are the most important traits they are looking for.
Also, KEEP SMILING & BE SOCIAL during the whole process.
Starting from the dinner before the interview, try to talk to people and get
to know them- where are they from; which school did they graduate from;
what do they like most about the company; what their career path has been
like, etc
NOTICE YOUR TABLE MANNER!!! You can google this; there are a lot of articles
about table étiquette- bread on your left; drink on your right; using
forks from outside to inside...
Dress Sharp. You need to look representable and professional, simply because
you will be put in front of a client in the future.
Talk calm and talk smoothly. Do not say "uhmm" or "like" frequently.
Normally people are getting excited and anxious during the interview and
dinner. But do not get over excited! Your shivering voice and tone will
remind them the fact that you are still a college kid who's not well
prepared.
Also, do not say anything irrelevant! There was a kid, who was also looking
for full-time position, talking five minutes straight about the details of
his favorite show on the lunch table. It was very embarrassing that NO one
was paying attention to what he said when his lecture went into the second
minute!!! It might help to talk about home football league when you and the
current employee are from the same school and are doing an one-on-one
chitchat. But when you are with a group of people, keep your favorites
private. Talk about the business.
A short summary of things you will need:
a firm handshake;
a pleasant smile;
"Thank you";
calm voice;
polished clothes;
nice eye contact;
table etiquette;
answers to all kinds of behavioral questions;
be social
Hope this helps!
Thanks for reading :)
