我现在的公司是P&C 里面非常窄的一块mortgage insurance, 我做pricing, 实话说非
常喜欢现在的工作，除了工作内容很有趣以外，保险公司工作时间短，每天就7个小时
左右，95%情况下不用加班。缺点是，我只是一个小analyst,一年工作经验，现在工资
是那个dw simpson survey的偏低值，还有MI这一块不稳定，感觉随时美国政府整顿房
地产行业说不定就拿掉了，还有最近有两家MI run off,每天看那个不同MI 的股票那个
跌就非常心慌。
由于个人原因，需要换location， 拿到一家做pension 的consulting的offer, 工资给
涨了20%。不过之前只有过pension internship的经验，没有full time过，而且一年多
前的忘的都差不多了。
现在自己公司可以提供relocate的机会，就是可以换到我想去的地点，估计工资还能涨
点。不知道两个options哪个更好？
有没有了解pension还有P/C or MI的大牛点评一下不同practice 的行业前景？像现在
corporate pension plans越来越少，是不是pension consulting生意越来越差？之前
有人说过pension is like a dying field，但面试的时候那个公司的人说现在还有各
种像government plan, Non-profit各种不同的plans 都有增长趋势，所以公司revenue
还在稳步上升中。不知道哪个比较靠谱。

Mortgage insurance is very special. The job is closer to finance than other
P&C lines. My personal experience told me that the experience in mortgage
insurance may not help you too much in launching another P&C job, but will
give you credit if you want to change to other industry. And for sure,
mortgage insurance is very unstable. I actually even don't think the
mortgage itself is insurable.
I don't know much about pension. But if I can give you any suggestion, I
would say follow your heart at the early stage of your career, do what you
really want to do. Then after a few yars, you will have incentives to deal
with things other than business if you want to move up. Insurance industry
changes so fast, you have to be alert all the time. Good luck!

1. i do not like consulting. crazy hours, more aggressive coworkers
2. he might have to take ea exams if he chose to do pension consulting.
3. pension is going downhill. know several people trying to get out, don't
know any who want to get in.
4. this is my speculation only- urbanization continues in China and other
developing countries and creates opportunity for mortgage related jobs

Never worked on warranty, but I feel it is a quite small area too.
I always work in P&C. P&C is quite localized incurance product. Some
technique and skills, such as rate filing and rating, are unique in US only.
For sure, it is valuable experience if you want to stay in US, but not sure
how much demand in the future. Some, such as ERM and predictive modeling,
may be used in other countries? no enough experience, can't comment.
Never worked in Life and Pension. Can the skills and techniques be easily
applied in other industries and countries? I guess better than some P&C jobs
, but maybe paid lower. I really can't comment much but I think peolple need
always to have a broader mind.

maybe european countries don't need as much rate filing, but
rating is similar, right?

不至于关门大吉。

pension相关行业支持个10+还是没问题的。好多pension plan实在是太大，牵扯的方面
太多，不是很容易就terminate的，不过大多数都close了，但里面的人要都挂掉还得等
好多好多年。

今天回到公司才又有一个大的project要开始，正是最忙的时候，而且公司同事不是一
般的nice。今天还是chief actuary生日，他老人家当年refer我这份工作的。现在看到
他都觉得有点内疚了。感觉现在跳槽有点不厚道，内心小纠结了一下。大家跳槽的时候
会不会都有这样的感觉呢？
