我是语言学新生，特此报道。还有，对语言学将来的发展不怎么了解，就业方向和情况
如何？有没有人转专业或者别的？讨论讨论，大家见仁见智啊，！~

我是master,现在就是上课+考试，方向什么的也没人管啊。语言学还真不简单，考试超
难。学出来做什么。。。

我现在已经习惯考试了...
上个礼拜去了一次major enlightenment，(我准备做ling minor)，了解到的信息是
本校65%的人类学和语言学毕业生最后去了med/busi/law（去law得最多），另外还有
一些去做edu，最后真正在这个领域做的大概每年有1、2个。

really? most PhD graduates from my department (linguistics) stay in the
field.

I'm taking a graduate level semantics class this semester. A few
undergraduate kids are in the class too. I feel they are all very smart and
highly motivated.
(For instance, they all look skinny and seem to do too much reading. lol)
Most of them major in linguistics but one or two major in philosophy.

I think people who do linguistics here were mostly Chinese or English majors
back in China. What about anthropology?

majors
not necessarily
Now there are three mainland Chinese students in my department
One majored in English, one in language information system (something like
that)
one in engineering.
Another one left this year. She majored in computer science.
For anthropology, a lot of students majored in English or history.
