If you got Pro or Ult version, use RDP just as in Windows OS. If not, you got to install TightVNC on Windows machine and use VNCviewer from RealVNC Enterprise version to log on. One thing I loved iPhone before was that I used my 3.5" iPhone controlled my PC downstairs! For simple tasks of course. :) One more thing, you can use VNC to shut off machine while you can't using RDP.
