最近也在看touareg。TDI比同model的V6版MSRP贵$3500, 然后买的话折扣少$1000
所以基本上到手价格TDI比同model贵$4500。
另一方面，Lux 比Sports with Nav 贵4000.
所以这是个取舍的问题：TDI engine，还是皮椅天窗lumbar support 19寸轮。
当然最理想的是 TDI Lux 或者 Executive。

先不说柴油发动机的其他优点，单就是3k的差价4万迈就开回来了。
除非你打算4万迈以内就卖掉，否则稍微长远一点来看，柴油就是更省钱的。

I guess people pay for the things they really Enjoy. Although the sunroof
doesn't open all the way, the view and light it brought in is priceless for
my 2nd row passengers. Same thing for the sunroof in Land Rover 4. What a
difference it made to the car.
It all came down to the budget. If I have a higher budget, I will go for
Cayenne, MB GL550, Range Rover, 2014 BMW X5. If I only have 50k, then the
choice is very limited. As I said, if you don't need the luxury of the
Touareg exec, then maybe it is better to go for the RX 350 or MDX.

same thing can be said about you missing the great low-speed power and
performance of the TDI, the fuel economy coming with it, and the feeling of
being unique/niche.
VW shield does not represent anything luxury... people looking for luxury
will more likely just go with BBAP. Touareg is really a "bargin" luxury
after all. so it's laughable to make such a big deal on luxury features of
its top trims.

If you really put interior above anything else, I think you should go for an

What car do you drive? Unless you have a TDI Exec, your opinion about TDI
and Luxury interior is just something you read about. This post is about
someone trying to buy a Touareg with a limited budget. I did not see one
piece of useful information you gave so far. Someone with a limited budget
usually needs to get the bang for the buck rather than living in the fantasy.
Don't tell me what luxury is. With 50k, this is what you get. With 100k, you
get a much better car.
Do share what you drive. Otherwise we are just wasting time in a stupid way.

audi q5和 q7了。 我买touareg就是图他的地盘，engine, 和安全。要看豪华和操控，
我就等14 X5了。 而且，对我来说，touareg的天窗使得我的head room 太少了。 唯一
没有的功能是parking sensor了，为这个，去搞exec实在不值得。

2014 X5 looks really luxury. The LED dashboard is huge. The reviews are very

是的，X5要贵一些，我有个很好的offer，2013 X5d, $10,000 off,算下来比touareg只
贵5000多了. 可惜13 x5d 真不咋样，14又等不及。X5 gas 的有没有好的offer。另外
我放弃x5 是因为后排坐的有点晕，每次试驾完，都不是很舒服，不适合我有两个小孩
的家庭。

同意，多数买touareg的人看重的是拖车performance和semi-luxury的内饰。
我的是2012 TDI Lux，当时日本水灾导致摄像头缺货，所有lux都装的是parking
sensor，我觉得还蛮值的。以后过了warranty，我就再加一套birdeye摄像系统。
Exec多出来的项目有些比较鸡肋，比如方向盘加热，红杉木vs胡桃木，和20’轮毂。不
过音响确实好很多，Lux上的那个音响很弱。后座加热在寒冷地区如果父母冬天visit的
话还是有用的。

摄像头还是不错的，我准备after market去装个front sensor，可惜只能听声音了。

相对添加sensor要容易些。

Exec trim provided. The sunroof and the leather seats are the most important
features.
Last weekend I parked the car, lowered the leather seats, listened to the
music through the Dynaudio system, watched the rain dropped on the full
sunroof, and did great things with lived one in the car. I guess I valued
these things much more than the 3k.
Agree to your "every 10k makes a car better". With 10-20k more, I would go
for a better SUV. But I am very happy with my Exec for the 46k I paid.

- In the luxury segment, all the diesel versions of the Mercedes-Benz E
Class ($4,175), Mercedes-Benz GL Class ($13,514), Mercedes-Benz M Class ($3,
063), Mercedes-Benz R Class ($5,951) and VW Touareg ($7,819) save owners
money in the three year timeframe.
- Fuel Efficiency: All of the diesel vehicles had better miles per gallon
than the gasoline versions with the diesels having between 8 to 44 percent
higher miles per gallon.
- Fuel Costs: All of the diesel vehicles had lower fuel costs than all the
gas versions of comparable vehicles, with 11 of the 12 vehicles showing
double digit reductions in fuel costs, ranging from 10 to 29 percent.
- Similar to the three year comparisons, five year estimated fuel costs for
diesel vehicles are less than those of comparable gas versions. The
percentage difference in terms of the reduction from gas to diesel costs
decreased for some diesel-gas comparisons as diesel prices began to increase

我接送孩子和上下班纯local，30 miles里24个红绿灯，TDI 2012开出来大概是24 mpg.
毕竟是近5000磅的大车，走走停停很耗油。highway的话一般在29-31 mpg,如果车速不
太高（~60mph)又不堵的话就更高。汽油版的话根据clubtouareg上的报告纯local
average 15mpg左右，高速大概23mpg左右。
60k下来大概就能省1000多gallon的油。不算柴油跟premium gas的差价，本地冬天柴油
贵点夏天汽油贵点总体大概$4/gallon，这样60k下来油钱就能省下TDI版本的MSRP差价
了。resale差价就不提了。当然gasser的清仓折扣比较大，10k off的时候傻子才去买
TDI。
