i tried to use NWA mileages for so many times, never succeeded. i called
them again today. It was my first time to know that
1) they have >1 billion members!
2) you may never have chance to use your mileages in some popular routes,
like asia.
3) you need almost one year in advance to reserve using your mileages.
The customer agent in NWA is very impolite and patientless.
What a trash!

so not true...
i booked USACHINA ticket in one month and a half advance
only cost 60k miles, and $33 tax/fee.
i then changed the the flight, cost $25 cancellation fee, refunded 60k
miles and $33 fee
rebooked, still 60k miles, $33 fee.
they do have blockout dates, like any other mileage programs do

这几年来回飞得较多,UA和NW的里程积累都用过,各有千秋,个人还觉得NW的里程好用些.
1.NW里程的最大好处是可以行程开口.在美国飞过LAX-PHL-SJC,25K;中美间PHL-PVG,PEK
-PHL,60K. UA的必须是ROUND TRIP.
2.虽然NW说用里程订票越早越好,但我实际操作体会是早几个月不一定有,到行程前一个月肯定能订上.比如
说上述的行程,计划的几个月之前就在NW的网站上找,一直没有,到一个月前全订到了.上
月帮家人安排用里程订票,1.22左右来美,一直没有,但根据以往的经验,并不着急.果然
12.18日开始NW网站上有了.
3.实际上买回国机票也是要么早几个月通过代理订,要么干脆等到一个月(2-3周)之内查
航空公司的网站买,这时候代理手中HOLD的一部分未订出的舱位又开始回到航空公司,放
出来了,价格也不错.近来几次机票都是这样买的.当然,暑假期间,和行程必须尽早排定,
时间弹性很小的没法这样做.
