of course those plasmids will produce enough hiv particles. like the classic
pNL4-3 WT. but for a lot of reasons, either bio-safty or their application,
people tend to use plasmids with partial defective HIV genome, such as Rev-
Tat-, Env- etc. then supply the corresponding plasmid encoding Rev, Tat, Env or
sometimes VSV G coat protein to fully rescure HIV replication and make infectious
HIV viral particles. although those virions are fully infectious they by themselve
will not produce infectiou
