I got chance to discuss with another Immigration attorney (who happens to be
my neighbor) even he opposes this bill and his honest reasoning is
1) This move the backlog from I/C to ROW
2) Now EB3ROW get GC in max 7-9 years that will increase to 10-12years.
3) Most of his clients are from I/C which makes his life good as they wait
in the queue longer...so the more renewal (H1,AP,etc.,) business they get.
4) ROW number is not giving great business for them as number of people are
less(and that small number also shared among all attorneys), this bill will
get their customers out of mess faster which will hurt their business.
Its simple business math 50,000(minimum number of different extension/
renewal) * $500 (minimum revenue) =$25million/yr just on extension/renewal
and this is assured for next 25yrs if current mess continues...do you really
think they want to lose this? they are not saint here.
If this bill passed their revenue assurance comes down to 10yrs...If I am
part of them for sure I will be against this bill.
Here is what my view on this bill
1) This will make every one applies in EB3 wait period equal and to make
that happen 1st 3yrs they plan to move I/C down that 12years and that too
First Come First serve basis.
2) After 3yrs there is no country limit
People can ask for big things (remove dependents, increase EB quota, etc.,)
those are poison pills to kill any immigration bills to die. In this economy
and unemployment rate there is zero chance law makers would increase GC
number by one....then why think/speak about big things. To me whomever ask
for big things are just wanted to kill this bill so that they can enjoy
current mess. You can clearly see the financial and wait time benefit those
people enjoy. We couldn't get big things when economy was super good and if
someone believes it is easy now for sure they are lying for person gain.
Let this bill pass, so every one (ROW) all will wake-up and join to fix this
by getting big (if at all they can) immigration bills.
PS: HR3119 is from Dems..it won't even pass in Judiciary committee let alone
becoming law...it contains tons of poison pills(for law makers).
