医院里的technologist怎么样？

那个学校面完最后一个candidate已经2周多了，还没消息，发信问chair后，回了封中
性的email说有些routine hiring procedures比如dean approval, background check
需要做，如果一切顺利3月初能出offer。我想他说的offer的时间应该是正式的offer吧。
面试过程中有个中国faculty很热情，还透露了几个候选人的情况给我，很想给他打个
电话问问结果，不知道这么做是不是很不professional，万一committee知道我打听后
果会很严重么？等得太煎熬了。

一个朋友建议我，如果想转行，可以试试医院里的technologist，工作比较稳定，也不
需要每天担心
实验成功或者不成功，也不浪费练了这么多生物实验的技术，也不用和太多人打交道（
对于我这样比较
内向的中国人是比较好的）。
当然这个也需要先学个相关degree才行……请问大家怎么看？谢谢哈！

我知道的有人在diagnostic lab 里做，大概5万左右，不过强度较大，但是人际关系比
较简单。有些要有Certificate，不过有的地方也不要，可以找找看

要考证，要有身份，工资不算高，很稳定

depends on which state you are. IN CA here, entry level salary 60k-70k. 5
year experience 100k without problem.

不一定的，面试完所有的候选人之前是不能给offer的，有时整个面试会拖一两个月。

It does not mean you are out, it is still early. The email is neutral.
I do not think you need to ask around, they won't be able to tell you
anything. I have lots of interview experience.

that's not true because I am the technical supervisor of a few medical
technologists. I review and verify applicant's material and interview the
applicants, including some from California.

apparently, you are not in CA. state certified CLS here are in high demand
and I don't see anybody get lower pay than before.
if you know so much in this field, why not help LZ with his/her questions?

两种可能：
1.你不是top的，可能是第二名，他们给第一名发了offer，等人家的回复。如果人家接
了offer，你就没戏了。如果人家没接，就是你的了。
2.他们可能还有candidate没面试完，在等那位来面试。有时候要等大家都有时间来面
试，也不是件容易的事。
问那个中国faculty没什么意义，次数多了人家还烦你，等着吧。

还有，那个非tenure track的faculty应该不是search committee里的，估计他都不一
定知道结果，他应该是没有表决权的。

很理解你内心的煎熬，不过事情已经不是你能控制的了，就耐心等待吧。尽人事，凭天
命。其实有时候拼命努力得到的不见得是最适合你的，得不到也不见得是件坏事。找工
作也看缘分的。

Don't ask. You are not the 1st candidate. If you are one of the finalists,

这是我的真实感受，我和你一样，容易焦虑，想得到的一定要得到。后来发现人家没得
到的过几年也不见得过得不好啊，甚至得不到还是好事呢。好多人得不到这里的
position，海归了，过得爆爽。有些人PHDqualify没过，转个master去工业界了，早干
得风生水起。所以不用着急。
