Just got an offer from a Tier-3 research school (US News rank 150+) as a
tenure-track assistant professor. Salary is almost the same. My situation is
that I just finished my 4th yr at a regional teaching school and plan to
apply tenure this fall. The new school insists to offer assistant professor
only and cares research fund very much (It requires to bring at least $500K
for tenure). Is it worth to move? Thanks

国内各大公司都有Translational Medicine，但是Novartis是做Biomarker的，AZ是做
项目管理的，Roche开始招Leader，但一定要MD背景的，要很强的Disease的知识（肿瘤
、病毒、代谢），要有从Pre-clinical到Clinical的经验。美国什么情况？怎么定义？
有罗氏要求的人吗？谢谢大牛们！

其实没什么,一个新热门词汇而已,大家都用这个去骗钱
说到底就是能把basic science discoveries 用到疾病中去,
举个例子,比如disease A 发现了一个新的target,和这个疾病发生很相关,
那translational 研究就跟上了
1) 根据这个target,有没有可能develop新的biomarker
2) 这个target是不是drugable, 发现了些candidates, 下面就开始做preclinical
efficacy---->preclinical safety--->Pk/PD---> IND--> clinical
其实都是换汤不换药.
然后最近还流行reverse translational research,顾名思义
就是translational research 上到human patients了,发现了什么问题
反过去优化知道basic science

I think it's bidirectional, from bench to bedside or from bedside to bench.

你那个罗氏的职位我先前帮你在本板转过，的确更适合出身bio的统计师，估计senior
level的人能争取到global pay，但是senior level的申请人第一在美国很容易找到地
点好收入高的位子，第二多半因为孩子很难回选择海归，第三在这儿生活久了回去未必
跟得上节奏和life style。公司如果肯招专业对口的fresh PhD，其实applicant pool
能大不少。

leader有戏吗？

呵呵，谢谢你~
已经跟HR沟通交涉过了，这个职位选择可以考虑Fresh 的PHD；但一定要找统计相关的
专业~
其他2个职位已经定了2个mitbbs上的大牛了，呵呵~

Thank you all for your suggestions/discussions. It is also my thought to get
tenure at my current school first.
