最近在market上的朋友都去onsite了，讨论thank you letter回复的越来越多了，以下
是我个人经验的一些总结，希望有抛砖引玉作用。如果有觉得我说错了的，请指出。
个人经验No.1, 分析thank you letter的回复基本没有实际价值，只有在等offer闲极
无聊的时候打发时间或者作为谈资这点作用。分析对了或者错了对你拿offer没有任何
用处。
个人经验No.2，如果大家不看好你，对你印象不好，那么分析回复基本是看不出来的，
因为没人直接会说我不喜欢你，装也要装一下吧。所以只能看看是否有一些positive的
成分。
大部分人的回复都是thank you for coming. we were happy to have you visiting
here. I enjoyed your talk and our discussion. 这几句话排列组合，所以一旦看到
这几句话那就当什么都没说，不含任何正面或负面消息。
SCC和department chair一般会加一句，we will be in touch soon/in a few weeks/
in a month。这一般也没有特别涵义，因为chair们也要投票结果有了才知道。但如果
他们说in the next week, in a few days，这可能是利好消息，因为极有可能你就是
top candidate，会是最早给offer的。
一下说几个奇葩的回复
1. chair没等我的thank you letter，直接先给我发了thank you letter，说I will
be in touch with you next week to follow up, and answer any other questions
you may have. 最后当然不久就拿到offer了，就是我现在这个系
2. 另一次onsite，几乎没人回我的thank you letter，过了半个月也拿到了offer，估
计是系里投票决定的。所以没人回也不要泄气，并不是说不会给你offer。
3. 另一次，系里某大佬回复：你做的跟我们想要的太match了，有你在就好了，你回去
先别急，等一下，我们需要走一下学院的流程，过一阵才会发offer。
我觉得这个是很positive的回复了，然而这个流程一走就是三个月，据说dean不喜欢我
的方向，先发了别人，轮了一圈才到我，最后我也没去那里。
4. 又是一个系，大佬回复：希望我们能有你这样的同事as soon as possible。
感觉这个也应该是positive？到底是不是positive我不知道，因为我答应了1.

学校的ifss (international falculty and scholar association) 的机构，
怎么非说如果用ap回来，自动give up h1b，
非要回来用ead工作了。
要用h1b必须重新申请.
大家都说的h1b 和 ap 不冲突，
请问这个有没有官方的说法可以用来说服学校。

这样的话，生物和stem 专业比的话就一点优势也没有了
那是不是就不会有那么多的人来念生物做千老
oversupply的问题我认为会有很大改善
供需会逐渐回到平衡状态
应该是个大利多

here. I enjoyed your talk and our discussion. 这几句话排列组合，所以一旦看到
这几句话那就当什么都没说，不含任何正面或负面消息。

我觉得不会，第一stem只是加快排期，那么eb1也会降低要求，所以生物利用文章搞绿
卡还是比其他专业快。第二，有些专业必须走生物这条路，比如医学，人家利用上学的
时间考board

生物主要的问题是
学生物的各位喜欢生物吗
喜欢的话就别抱怨收入
不喜欢的话
就是当初投机投错了而已
捞不回本也没办法

There is no way for STEM to be accepted. The green permit is the way how
they milk. Law and politics are all about who is supposed to work hard and
who is supposed to exploit those working hard. Various excuses have been
invented for this in verbatim, e.g., XX-ism.
The only thing good is that it brings a question mark to the public's eyes.

有些道理。不过作为一个领域，还是需要解决从业人员的生活问题，
毕竟杰出永远是个相对概念，只属于top1%的人，而行业内99%的人的生存问题还是很现
实的。一个领域的资源分布过于不均匀这其实未必对本行业的发展有利。
另外喜欢和抱怨其实也不是总是矛盾，毕竟还有生活和环境压力，即使人能够follow自
己的爱好研究生物也会面对每天都存在的现实矛盾。

一边让非法移民合法，
一边又不让STEM过，
不太可能做的这么不公平吧，还这么明显，吃相这么难看
难道连一点虚伪的掩饰都懒的做吗？

也不尽然。现在生物学已经成了人人避之不及的专业，STEM即使通过，也不会加深这种
程度。但就业市场上积压多年的供大于求仍然需要很长时间来平衡。
反过来，如果生物博士一毕业立刻拿绿卡并每人发放五万美金，是否是大利空？

My friend, fairness is always in slogans and seldom have slogans turned into
reality. OK, let me tell you what Americans thought about the STEM thing.
The majority in the Republic is not a big fan of science or technology. To
them, the life is all about farming/harvesting, eating/sleeping, and Bible
study. To them, STEM fields are kinda evil and do no goods. Try to ask them
what STEM is and they will say "cheap labors or 3rd-world losers". They will
propose to exploit us as much as possible, just like the cattles raised in
their farms.
The majority of the Democratic is exactly what we know about. To them,
openning this STEM gate is equivallent to shutting down their windows. They
don't care about fairness or the benefit of this country. They only afford
caring about themselves.
Are there really proponents of the STEM thing from the two sides? I believe
yes. These people want better labor force in the economy to boost the
productivity. However, their number is small and their voice is negligible.

Are you an American? If not, better reconsider your wording.
Chinese graduates here in the states are better labor force for sure, at
least in the attitude. They work hard and they don't expect much.

What is the point of "Opportunists"? Decision-making/cost-benefit/
speculation exist in everyone's life. Here the point is: comparison. Chinese
students here in the states are mainly selected by their work ethic.
Compared with many other people, you know what I mean, they work harder and
expect less.
By the way, being sarcastic doesn't make you look smart.
