Position: Principal/Senior Scientist – in Team Rodent Pharmacology in
Diabetes Biology and Pharmacology Department
Novo Nordisk is a focused healthcare company and a world leader in diabetes
care. Novo Nordisk Research Center China (NNRCC) is an integrated part of
Novo Nordisk R&D organization. Novo Nordisk wants to conduct diabetes
research activities in China and expand its network to the scientific
community. For these purposes, a new position is open for a highly qualified
and motivated scientist/manager with expertise within diabetes/obesity/
diabetic complication biology who plans to advance a career in China.
Diabetes Research China (DRC) is part of NNRCC located in Beijing. DRC is
responsible for support of diabetes, obesity and diabetic complication
research projects in the discovery phase. Currently, DRC is composed of four
departments, Diabetes Protein Engineering, Diabetes Biology and
Pharmacology, Histology, and Pharmacology & Facility. Diabetes Biology and
Pharmacology contains two teams, Team Biology and Team Rodent Pharmacology.
Altogether, we are a highly motivated and productive team with high
standards for our deliveries into the projects. We work with state-of-the-
art facilities and equipment and value a high team spirit, good
communication and dynamic collaboration both internally and with external
colleagues. DRC is expected to grow significantly over the next years, which
leads to excellent opportunities for individual development
Main Tasks:
Take responsibility in further developing the rodent pharmacology at Novo
Nordisk Diabetes Research China. You will plan and conduct in vivo studies,
set-up and develop models, and evaluate the translational value of such
models within the area of diabetes/obesity and/or diabetic complication
especially diabetic nephropathy and/or retinopathy. Our center is growing
rapidly and you will be expected to impact the development of our expertise
area and represent it in the projects. Furthermore, you will be expected to
leverage the innovation culture, mentor colleagues, and promote the
collaboration culture both internally and globally.
You will be involved in cross-functional project teams with colleagues from
many different scientific backgrounds both in China and in Denmark. You will
be a key person in research projects and responsible for defining the
direction of the in vivo pharmacology and/or ex vivo biology in the project.
You will be the department representative in research projects where you
are expected to seek influence based on the data you generate and by keeping
up to date with the scientific literature.
You will be referring directly to the Team Leader and your main internal
contacts in your daily work will be scientist colleagues, research
associates, project members, and managers both in Beijing and in Denmark.
Furthermore, developing and maintaining a strong external network is also
going to be an important part of your work.
You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment
within the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Research Unit.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. within biological sciences.
• Excellent scientific background with proved expertise in diabetes
, obesity, diabetic nephropathy or diabetic retinopathy.
• Minimum 3 years working experience with in vivo pharmacology
within diabetes/obesity/diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy. Industry
experience is preferred but not required. CRO interaction experience is a
plus.
Incumbent will need to have good communication and collaboration skills as
you will play a key role in representing your expertise area in global
project teams and towards colleagues at the other research sites. You are
flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, innovative and result oriented. You
have a lot of individual responsibility with a high degree of personal
impact in the projects. You are able to meet deadlines and keep overview.
Furthermore, you are fluent in English.
Title and compensation will be commensurate with the applicant’s
qualifications and based on benchmark in China.
