I was a math/stat guy, now engineer. I took some finance courses in both phd and
mba levels. They are totally different. mba is practical, but phd tells why.
you might find math has different explanation in phd courses, which is very
interesting. also how they use stat in empirical study. I heard that UC
and Wharton's finance are best. Unfortunately my
university is good only in management science and marketing (kellogg). Good idea
to learn finance. I believe the guys with math, stat and finance
