misleading. most of finance ph.d. go on to teach and do research and don't get
that many opportunities to make extra money as mentioned.
it is very hard (i am not saying it is impossible) for finance ph.d. to go to
IB or consulting company.
the pay at federal reserve is only about 80k annually, according to last
year's data.

It's partially misleading 'coz I think the career prospect discussed here only
applies to the top (10?) programs.
