But if you look at bios of the consultants or vice presidents or even
partners/principals at these elite firms in China, many of them boast an
INSEAD MBA. INSEAD seems to have pretty good reputation within the consulting
circle. And if you look at the placement statistics on INSEAD's website,
McKinsey hired a whopping 60 people in 2001(42 of these 60 are former
McKinseyers, though).

alum?

Point taken. Maybe I should go to Mississippi State for my MBA. :)
Only 15 in total? Is this number for a lean year like this year or is it the
case for all the years? Assuming that the IBs hire the same number of people
in China, then we have only about 30 slots for 200+ Chinese in US top 10s.
Pretty disencouraging numbers indeed.
By the way, jazzcat, how is the job-hunting scene at the top 10 you are in? I
heard it is fairly bleak this year. Where do the Chinese students at these
schools who c

But the positions at citi shanghai that pays American salary are probably
reserved for senior managers. They probably won't hire MBAs fresh out of
school
for these senior management positions.

McKinsey BTO is not doing exceedingly well in the US. BTO value proprosition
is not core to McKinsey's stated goal of shaping top management agenda. Most
of BTO's work nowadays is business outsourcing/offshoring strategy (e.g.,
should you outsoure, how do select vendor and negotiate prices, etc.). That

My view is that IT has to be integrated into today's consulting business, one
way or another, as it has become ubiquitous in today's enterprises. Take a
look at the project McKinsey did with Star Group in China. Even though the
project per se is only about re-structuring Star's sales/distribution
organization to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness, the medicine
doled out by McKinsey failed miserably because Star doesn't have the IT
infrastructure to back it up. To achieve the kind of ef

FYI. Article from http://www.consultinginfo.com
IS STRATEGY DEAD?
The Economist (Nov. 2) suggests that strategy consulting is wasting away. Like
the balding football star years past his last touchdown, strategy consultants
would rather regale crowds with past exploits than face their bleak future.
Despite its cliched title ("Consultant, heal thyself"), the article actually
offers an interesting premise to explain the industry’s glorious 1990s run.
The emergence of technology as a business driver
