To answer the question why oil industry hires chemical engineering at all,
we need to address that, there is 5% jobs require substantial knowledge in
chemical engineering, which would lead to specialists as I pointed out in an
earlier thread. Among all technical work, roughly 40% will be g&g related
(geophysics, geology, petrophysics, image interpretation etc.), 20% will be
drilling/completion and production, 40% will be reservoir engineering.
