Job duties for this position include: Investigate problems, analyze test
results, and generate solutions for basic problems associated with the
research, design, development, and manufacturing of Business Jets by
performing stability and control and flight dynamics analysis. Develop,
document, and inspect simulation models for the purposes of flight dynamics
analysis. Support engineering staff in establishing requirements for systems
integrity, availability and performance to ensure flight safety and 14 CFR
FAR Part 25 certification. Validate and update simulation models with flight
test data. Develop tools in Matlab/Simulink to perform handling qualities
and control law stability analysis. Validate and document results and
summary of findings of flight dynamics analyses by preparing memos,
presentations, and reports.
Experience/Education Required:
- Requires a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in an aerospace or
mechanical engineering field and 10 years of experience in aerospace
industry research and development.
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience, will accept a
master's degree or foreign equivalent in an aerospace or mechanical
engineering field and eight years of stated experience.
- Must also have 3 years of experience: designing and analyzing stability
and control requirements on a 14 CFR part 25-certified aircraft; developing
6DOF nonlinear simulation models for use in the design process and aircraft
handling / flying qualities analysis; generating aircraft databases from
empirical methods, wind tunnel data, and flight test data; performing
systems analyses and code development in MATLAB & Simulink; and developing
Flight Dynamics and Flight Control systems technology of an airplane with
augmented controls (such as fly-by-wire).
