我爸妈来美签了半年。妈妈一年前来过半年，按时返回中国。爸爸这次是第一次来。
请问，我们想给父母办延期半年，就是说父母这次来住一共一年，有没有一种说法是这
样的话父母回国后一年以内不可以再次入境美国？
还有就是办延期怎么办？

没有强制的规定，但来的太频繁获得签证以及入境都会困难。

I shot each individual against white wall in 3 separate occasions, because
of their scheduling issue. The shadow on the floor looks bad... I have to
remove the carpet entirely and paint the shadows with brush.

明年可能是一个小阳春，今年6月交的 proposal可能机会比较大。
后年可能就是寒冬腊月了。
因为2012换总统。

如果上帝周日休息了，就会有5对碱基对，而不是只有现有的4对？
为什么周日休息会导致新的碱基对产生？

startup败了很多设备，基本用钱来砸数据，希望砸得有效。

It is a misquote, I think he said
"If God DIDN'T rest on Sunday, there would be fifth/sixth base pairs" I
think it is in the context of his non-natural amino acid work...
Except his lab didn't rest on Sunday, and I don't see him create anything, a
drug in clinical trial? a commercial product?

Hint: Caltech chemistry building is the Chemical Biology building, the sign
is there in the 50s if not earlier.
I know chemical biologist cannot publish 70+ papers (cough nano cough) a
year but does not mean the field is small and unimportant. Let's see what
will happen to the hot chemistry field today in half a century.
I do hope chemical biologist can be more practical though...drugs give me
drugs!

你先写着，等你拿到appointment，你就可以交了。
其实只要是project开始的时候，你有appointment 就可以了。
你可以问问NIH PM，是不是可以把offer letter 一起提交。

问题就是太难发文章了，做个东西不比biologist快多少，发的文章档次还上不去。能
发一篇ACS chemical biology就要祈祷了，看着很多人在JACS上灌水，真是好羡慕啊。

Tell me about it...I have nightmare about publishing...found a novel
selective inhibitor and only inhibits one out of 11 isoenzymes (I did IC50s
on all of 11 isozyes on all compounds), the reviewers still think it is not
specific because its IC50 is at ~1 microM. I even over-expressed the
proposed target and shown the over-expression attenuates the toxicity of the
compound...still under review :( over a month.

这些administrative的issue，不用操心，
还是用老板的钱多攒点data带过去的好。
还有就是可以攒点consumable带过去。
俺现在就开始攒了。

现在的老板要是知道我要带东西过去会哭的。
不过，质粒啊，细胞啊，冷冻老鼠胚胎啊什么的我肯定是要带一堆的。

主要是1 microM，如果是1 nM，可能你不会遇到这个问题了

俺现在就买点antibody, kit，还有loading tip, micromanipulator，反正是1000快
以内的，存着带走。买一千块以内的东西，老板不过问。
俺这个钱是俺自己写的小grant。俺老板根本不在乎这么点钱，但是对new lab来说，什
么都要花钱啊。可以买不少有用的东西呢。
