IRS最近发信说2014年的tax return里报的nonemployee compensation (1099-MICS,
box 7)数字不对。box 7是9k,我在Schedule C和Schedule SE上报的是4k,想说US-China
treaty article 20的5k免税额度在这里用上。这钱是在学校外作intern所得，请问
这样报有何不妥？
网上看过一些讨论，有的说1099上的钱不能享受tax exempt，属实？

我研究了一下6月18日开始的加拿大驻美国使馆和领馆的签证受理调整，发现有两个相
近的词给很多人造成困惑：Temporary Resident VISA 和 Temporary Resident PERMIT
. 以下是我的分析，请指正错误。如果没有错，希望可以帮助大家。
加拿大驻DC大使馆网页 http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/washington/visas/index.aspx?lang=eng&view=d 写道
As of June 18, 2012, the visa office of the Canadian Embassy in Washington,
D.C., will no longer receive Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) applications from
the general public; applications for a Travel Document (Permanent Resident
Abroad) (PRTD) or applications for Verification of Entry. It will become a
specialized office which will receive stand-alone Temporary Resident Permit
(TRP), Rehabilitation and Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC)
applications for residents of the United States (U.S.) living East of the
Mississippi River, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, St. Pierre et Miquelon, and the U.S
. Virgin Islands; and TRV applications from embassies, the United States
government and international intergovernmental organizations only.
看来TRV和TRP是有区别的。
加拿大驻Los Angeles领馆网页（http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/los_angeles/visas/index.aspx?lang=eng&view=d）清楚写道：Applications for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) from persons in the United States may be submitted to the visa offices in Los Angeles, Seattle, Detroit, or New York.
加拿大移民部网页（http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/notice-buffalo.asp）更清楚区分了TPV和TRP的受理地点：
As of June 18, 2012, the visa office in Washington, D.C., will no longer
receive visitor visa applications. The visa office will now be responsible
for temporary resident permit, rehabilitation and authorization to return to
Canada (ARC) applications East of the Mississippi, including Puerto Rico,
Bermuda, St. Pierre et Miquelon, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The visa
office in Los Angeles will be responsible for applications received West of
the Mississippi.

New visitor visa applications can be submitted to the visa offices in Los

be processed to completion. Applicants are not required to re-apply and will

这些变动同加拿大驻Buffalo领馆关门有关, 加拿大驻Buffalo领馆（http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/buffalo.asp）在加拿大移民局网页上说：
* For visitor visas see Los Angeles, Seattle, Detroit or New York
* For study or work permits see Los Angeles or New York
* For temporary resident permits see Los Angeles or Washington, D.C.
所以，如果申请去加拿大的Visitor Visa (i.e., Temporary Resident VISA, TRV)，
可以去
Los Angeles, Seattle, Detroit or New York
Temporary Resident Permits (TRP) 是什么我不知道。

你们的case都在哪里买的？会考虑跟衣服或者钱包背包什么的搭配吗？

IRS信里寄来帐单，说同意就寄check，不同意可以argue,补材料。　请问有人argue过
没，结果怎样？谢了！

不清楚1099mics能不能用5000 treaty benefits
但是如果要是给w2 claim 的话，应该这样子做

"在1040的第21栏填上（5000），在该栏的List
type and amount上填上 See attached form 8833.
注：（5000）里的这个括号就表示是-5000了，但是不是写-5000，而是填上（5000）。
而且按照学校的free tax return assistance的建议，如果要claim $5000的treaty,
把1040，8833和相关文件都寄到了:
Department of the Treasury
Internal Revenue Service
Austin, TX 73301-0215
USA
而且还在寄出去的信封的左下角写上了"1040 + Treaty"。
个人经历，仅供参考，谢谢！"
所以个人觉得你的问题可能出在两个方面
1.1099不能claim treaty benefits但是你claim了
2.1099可以claim但是你没有正确的claim
上面提供的链接是opt如果claim 5000的，我估计那个帖子应该是w2收入，所以楼主还
是得弄清楚1099行不行，不行的话只能交check回去了，行的话估计得重新file一下
1040，按照帖子的方法去claim 5000.

太亮有一种很CHEAP的感觉, 我就一个最普通的黑套子. 但是我喜欢APPLE店里那个
PAUL FRANK大嘴猴子的. 但是和老夫的身份性别不符, 只能放弃鸟.
