I do not have direct experience with Ohio and California Boards for P.E.,
but Texas Board is quite friendly. Basically you need this qualification to
take PE in Texas.
U.S. MS Degree + 3 year exp. or
U.S. PhD Degree + 2 year exp.
Positively no TOEFL, no foreign degree evaluation required.
I applied P.E. in another state also and my friends dealt with a few other
states, Texas Board is the best so far.

Oak Ridge National Lab has a survey on how many credits each state board
will give for graduate degree. but that is not very helpful because
the assumption is that you have ABET bachelor.
most of us do not have ABET bachelor's degree. The survey here
is to help foreigners like myself.

FL, graduation study can be count as only 1 year (whatever Phd or MS, in
China or USA). Plus 4 year experience.

Yes, u are right. Graduate study count as 1 year, so another working
experience of 3 year can make it total 4 year experience.

本州居民....I heard about just living more than one yr here should
coonsidered to be. When I took the exam, I just be to US (NV) 1.5 yr.

你如果有 ABET Bachelor + Ph. D. or Master，就只要一年。但这个版上绝大部分都
是从大陆来的，在大陆拿的 Bachelor，而大陆没有一所学校通过 ABET 认证，所以要
再加两年经验。FT. 其实国内大多数学校的本科教育都不比这边弱，理论基础其实更强
。但没办法，在人家的地方，没有人家的认证，就要比人矮一截。
我当时就由于在美国的工作年限不够，就拿国内的经验充数，结果也过关了。呵呵。我有一同学，用的是在新加坡读 Master 的两年时间。她说是在做research, 她新加坡的老板有新加坡的 PE, 并帮她在 reference 上盖了章，也顺利地通过了evaluation。

I heard that, if you passed PE exam in other sates and want to do
reciprocity to IL, IL board asks you to RE-TAKE pe exam if they found you do
not meet their requirement...

应该只能算一个，但是你可以把国内的master算成工作经验，试试他们承认不。

Do not mislead the peers. You didn't get the gist.
In NV, you can take the PE exam after you pass the EIT. However, you cannot
get the NV PE license without four year experieces in Civil Engineering
after B.S.

你的情况，大概有两种可能
1.我的原文是一年之前发了，现在规矩变了也是有可能的。发扬"与时俱进"的谨慎申请
之前务必自己做调查研究，不要了犯刻舟求剑的错误。
2.曾经有人用国内的经验，毕业之前intern的经验，或者TA/RA的经验也通过了。至少原
来的OHIO是，可以自己申报经验这样，现在不行了。大趋势是越来越严格，必须是取得
学位之后，在PE指导下完成的工作才算。
另外澄清一下本版的宗旨，版上的发言不是金科玉律，而是分享信息，让广大同学少走
弯路，而不是完全避免弯路。比如你从版上了解到TEXAS不需要学位认证，或者网友告诉
你如何WAIVE 认证的途径，省去你盲目去认证的花费，本版的作用就达到了。总之，自
己的调查研究是不可以免得。

I got Ohio PE 2 yrs ago with Phd degree but w/o any experience and has been
a post doc for 2 yrs after that. Just got a job in FL and company wants me
to transfer PE to FL in 6 months. As for the working experience,Will i get
4 yrs based on FL board? I know phd=1yr + 2 yrs posdoc = 3yrs. Can MS degree
in China be counted as a yr too? That way, I should have 4 yrs.

发现加州只要有ABET post-graduate degree，就直接给5年credit towards PE
application.真是太好了！！

呜呜。。。去年八月二号毕业，算来仅差16天满足这一年的条件！因为这一年的工作经
验必须是after graduation的，国内几年的工作经验看来是没法排上用场了，不过还是想做一下审查人
的工作，写信先问问，看能否搞个国内的工作经历证明说服他们原谅我那差的16天，不过好多老美办事讲原则
的，差一天都不行。那只有再多等半年了。。。

The toughest one is IL.
Require TOEFL with TSE (and score must above something).
And evaluation too. If no, need 8 year experience.
FL, graduation study can be count as only 1 year (whatever Phd or MS, in
China or USA). Plus 4 year experience.

Yes, u are right. Graduate study count as 1 year, so another working
experience of 3 year can make it total 4 year experience.

本州居民....I heard about just living more than one yr here should
coonsidered to be. When I took the exam, I just be to US (NV) 1.5 yr.

你如果有 ABET Bachelor + Ph. D. or Master，就只要一年。但这个版上绝大部分都
是从大陆来的，在大陆拿的 Bachelor，而大陆没有一所学校通过 ABET 认证，所以要
再加两年经验。FT. 其实国内大多数学校的本科教育都不比这边弱，理论基础其实更强
。但没办法，在人家的地方，没有人家的认证，就要比人矮一截。
我当时就由于在美国的工作年限不够，就拿国内的经验充数，结果也过关了。呵呵。我有一同学，用的是在新加坡读 Master 的两年时间。她说是在做research, 她新加坡的老板有新加坡的 PE, 并帮她在 reference 上盖了章，也顺利地通过了evaluation。

I heard that, if you passed PE exam in other sates and want to do
reciprocity to IL, IL board asks you to RE-TAKE pe exam if they found you do
not meet their requirement...

应该只能算一个，但是你可以把国内的master算成工作经验，试试他们承认不。

Do not mislead the peers. You didn't get the gist.
In NV, you can take the PE exam after you pass the EIT. However, you cannot
get the NV PE license without four year experieces in Civil Engineering
after B.S.

Talk with Technical Aboard about evaluation:
Any degree from China doesn't count.
Any working experience (part-time or full-time) before graduation data (
recept of degree) doesn't count. So, if you work for a company while writing
thesis and defending dissertation, that period cannot be included .
At least three references are needed (They must be PE already).

By the way, TX board is really friendly, if you are from TAMU, one of the

你的情况，大概有两种可能
1.我的原文是一年之前发了，现在规矩变了也是有可能的。发扬"与时俱进"的谨慎申请
之前务必自己做调查研究，不要了犯刻舟求剑的错误。
2.曾经有人用国内的经验，毕业之前intern的经验，或者TA/RA的经验也通过了。至少原
来的OHIO是，可以自己申报经验这样，现在不行了。大趋势是越来越严格，必须是取得
学位之后，在PE指导下完成的工作才算。
另外澄清一下本版的宗旨，版上的发言不是金科玉律，而是分享信息，让广大同学少走
弯路，而不是完全避免弯路。比如你从版上了解到TEXAS不需要学位认证，或者网友告诉
你如何WAIVE 认证的途径，省去你盲目去认证的花费，本版的作用就达到了。总之，自
己的调查研究是不可以免得。

I got Ohio PE 2 yrs ago with Phd degree but w/o any experience and has been
a post doc for 2 yrs after that. Just got a job in FL and company wants me
to transfer PE to FL in 6 months. As for the working experience,Will i get
4 yrs based on FL board? I know phd=1yr + 2 yrs posdoc = 3yrs. Can MS degree
in China be counted as a yr too? That way, I should have 4 yrs.

很少州承认外国学位，都要评估。有的州管的紧些。
