拿到一个CSM的PhD offer，是Geotechnical Engineering。请教大家这个学校的这个专
业在领域内声誉如何，这个专业在北美找工作形势如何呢？

用 adblock 把某些 script （特别是插广告的）屏蔽掉有好处。很多
javascript 写的不好，会造成问题。
不过即使这样，firefox 对于有些网页还是有些问题。这样一般都是 flash
的问题。
有时候 firefox crash，先 close firefox，再 kill 那个 firefox
process。一般能解决问题。反正俺的设置是 save tab location，所以
重新启动 firefox 没什么不便。
俺一般开 40+ tab 都用的挺好。

geotech in school of mines is so-so but it is very easy to get a job in
Denver for geotechnical engineers.

我也经常有这个问题，就是最近，以前没有，几台机器上都是，把addon都disable也没
用。症状是一开始没什么，放个几个小时就会跑到30-40%的cpu（是双核的机器上），
关掉重开又好了。版本已经是最新的了。有什么可以debug的办法吗？

CSM是个好学校，GOOD LEVEL，但不算TOP LEVEL。
MIT，STANFORD， UC-B，UIUC这种是TOP。
找个ENGINEER工作还是没问题的。
如果不想作教授，不要读PHD，读个MS就好了，在工业界，PHD不被APPRECIATED。

MIT，STANFORD， UC-B，UIUC这种是TOP。
找个ENGINEER工作还是没问题的。
如果不想作教授，不要读PHD，读个MS就好了，在工业界，PHD不被APPRECIATED。

desktop p4 2.8g 2g xp pro 和 laptop core2 duo 2g 2g vista business。
这两机器俺都开 40+ tab 没问题。俺机器上还同时跑一堆东西，比如 postgresql
和 eclipse 。

跟 addon 无关，有些网页本身有问题，比如有 memory leak，又经常 reload，
或者出问题不停的 loop 等。出现这情况可以尝试一个个吧网页关掉看是哪个
问题。有些时候可以马上看出效果。我一般都是把常去的网站的 javascript
如果可能的话 adblock 掉。比如中文网站，把大部分 js 给 block 住以后
快很多。

For Geotech, it might be easier to find a job than Structure engr but the
pay is a little bit low. As I mentioned, Geotech MS and PhD are pretty easy
to find a job in Denver since so many consultants are working for mining
industry.

pay is a little bit low. As I mentioned, Geotech MS and PhD are pretty easy

Man, you are brave. A good browser is Opera which allows you have
site specific preferences. Like when visiting chinese web sites,
automatically turn off scripting and iframe support, or block certain
scripts. When visiting gmail, stock sites, keep them on. Firefox's
adblock sort of does the job, but still not quite as good. IE is
very bad besides the fact that it under more scrutiny (i.e. hacks).
For the important sites, they usually have both IE and Firefox
compatibility, besides the fact

According to the mail I got, the primary advisor would be determined after
the enrollment and the familarity with the faculty's research projects, then
the student can choose one who would provide funding.
