我的理解是,好像必须已经是PE civil,才能考PE Structural I, 有了I, 才能考II。

structure I 和PE Civil (structure) 是两回事。

For most states with both SE and PE title, you are not allowed to take Structural I and II exams even III exams unless you had PE-civil license for certain years. For California, it is 3 years from the date receiving your PE-civil in CA. For Nevada, it is 2 years. So it is 时间上的问题.

My real question is that if take structure I and II (or maybe structure II and III) without PE Civil, any possibility to get two licenses: PE (maybe more specifically Professional Engineer-Civil Engineer), SE(Professional Engineer-Structural Engineer). I know that basically, both licenses are belong to PE, but still two different license seals. Yes, in california or even most of us states, PE civil is an entrance exam for SE(structural I and II, structural II and III, whatever combinations). But

not really. Only Illinois and Hawaii do not require candidates to be PE's in order to be SE's. Please note, SE does not belong to PE in this case. For all other sates, if you do not have PE-civil plus certain experience, how can you take Structural II or III? For cases you mentioned in TX and AZ, I think the exam is structural I only. Correct me if I am wrong.
take circumstance, PE and SE license is not a problem of time any more.

if you only want to do structural work, it does not make any sense to take PE exam. but my case was several years ago, the rules may different now.

I believe that you are wrong. As I mentioned earlier, in TX and AZ, you do not have to be a PE to take SE exams. The exam is not just about structual I only as your thought. The rules on the boards' website can answer all your questions.

I agree, SE license is more appreciated in structural field. However, rules in California has been changed, you have to take PE civil and have more work experience to be eligible for SE exams later.

I think you mixed SE exam with SE license. 1.SE license does not exist on every state (only 11 states so far I believe) . For example, even you pass SE I and II in Texas, your license is still PE. It is not SE. As I said, only in IL and HI, you can pass SE exam and get SE license without PE-civil. 2. To be licensed as PE in Texas and AZ, structural I only shall be fine. You do not need Structural II exam. 3. I am just curious, what is the qualification to take Structural II in Texas? Does any f

The above is true. My hubby passed SE 1 AND SE 2, but we are in a state that does not have SE license. He has to go to CA or WA or some other states that do have SE license to apply for SE license. He can apply for Arizona SE license directly but there is little use. He will take another test ( earthquake) in WA next year and then apply for SE license in WA and CA.
