Louis van Amstel has taken the United States by storm! He and his partner,
Karyna Smirnoff, defeated Bill Sparks and Kimberley Mitchell to become our
new United States Latin American Champions. At the United States Dance Sport
Championship, held in Miami during Labor Day week, Louis, (who is
originally from Holland), and Karyna, (who is originally from the Ukraine),
won all five dances! Dance Notes was thrilled to have the opportunity to
speak with Louis earlier this year before he won the title

Did Karyna Smirnoff (or karina smirnoff) once danced with paul killick and
won 2nd place in blackpool, before she partnered with Louis?

Impossible for karina to win blackpool runnerup with paul killick in 1997
and 1998. Not likely she did before 1997, when she was too young - don't
know her age but that was about 10 years ago.

There seems to be another Karyna. While paul was starting his partnership
with Hanna, he won the runner-up with Karyna Kylkova in 1999. The next year
2000, paul and hanna won the 3rd place; louis and karYna smirnoff won the
5th. Unless Karina Smirnoff today was karyna Kylkova...

That's the missing piece of the puzzle, finally. Any gossip of why?
Where is this talented Louis Van Amstel today? It looks that after he broke
up with Karina, Karina partnered with Slavik, and Louis partnered with
Joanna Leunis. What were these dancers doing? Swapping "wives"?

louis was the first accomplished latin dancer that i saw live. needless to
say i was very impressed:) he did a pretty good job with monique on dwts
this past season. i'm still upset that they got booted so early.
on another subject, did anyone see the commercial with edyta and max? i'm
pretty sure it's edyta, but the man could be alec. i think it's ad for jared
the jewelry store. glad that dancesport stars are getting the recognition
