are you talking about positions for legs?
it's borrowed from ballet language. there are 5 positions
some picutures demostrating the leg positions:

not exactly...I was talking about latin dance, in which,
5th position means both man and lady take a back break (with quarter turn)
and thus open at 90 degree.
I can't relate that to the ballet leg position.

当你做back check的时候fifth position is very natural, both in latin and ballet

i remember "hand to hand" in international latin is called "fifth position"
in american rhythm, should be the same thing
