What You’ll Do:
Develop high performance distributed services and systems for search and
discovery
Improve reliability, scalability, efficiency and latency of servers and
process
Explore and implement new signals and features with massive data at Tumblr
Create tools for experimenting and evaluating new search and recommendation
algorithms
What We’re Looking For:
A track record of solving problems and getting things done
Highly productive developer in Scala, Java, C++ or similar
Familiarity with information retrieval, recommendation system, and relevancy
Experience with search infrastructure
Familiarity with Linux-based systems
Experience with hadoop/mapreduce a plus
MA or equivalent experience
Tools We Like:
Scala/Java/PHP/Python
Hadoop/Scalding/Hive/Pig
Lucene/Solr
[iOS engineer]
A history of shipping iOS software.
Ability to write idiomatic Objective-C code.
Deep understanding of Cocoa design patterns and API design.
An appreciation for pragmatism and simplicity in code.
Knowledge of iOS performance techniques.
A strong product and design sensibility.
Enthusiasm for Tumblr as a product.
A good sense of humor and a love of collaboration.
[Andriod engineer]
You’re going to work on our Android app. Make new things. Make old things
better. You know, development.
Collaborate with the rest of our small, talented team of designers and
engineers on the above.
Own a feature from its inception through the design process, development,
debugging, and release.
What we're looking for:
Experience with small footprint, concurrent Java.
WIllingness to spend the time obsessively testing features that are
functional and engaging.
A thorough understanding of Tumblr’s features and specific ideas for making
them better.
Smarts, humility, and equal willingness to learn and teach.
Tools we use:
Android Studio
Gradle
Jenkins
