hi, guys,
I used much time on download oracle.
There are 2 packages which I don't know which to choose from.
One is Oracle8i EE,
the other is the WebDB (one product from oracle as well).
To me suprised, the WEbDB is bigger than 8i (they are both in tar format).
What's the difference between this 2 package ya?
Give me some ideas on which to install?
Thanks!

If you want to build a not-heavy web site with oracle db on
the
backend, it is recommended to use WebDB. It has all the
tools
from creating HTML pages to directly access db data from its
(JDeveloper) gui. If you use Java for the application, you
can
build your entire application under JDeveloper environment.
It
also has some PL/SQL cartridge which can almost build any
web
application using oracle db.
However, WebDB is kind of buggy. It is certainly not as
stable
as Oracle db. But I do not th

thanks a lot, orb!
I do have the oas_4081.tar & oracle815ee.tar.
It seems that the oas cann't live along, it must be standing
based on the oracle7-8i. Right?
So, I suppose I have to install oracle8i and then install
the oas next.
// I just wonder the relationships among these two systems?
Thanks again.

Just a few days ago oas 4082 was in production. But I would strongly recommend
you to use oas 4081 which I think is the stablest version I've seen.
OAS is a Web server and if you want this web server to have db activities,
you certainly need 8i as the db backend. If your web site does not need
to handle db data, OAS is enough. But that is a rare case.
Oracle 8i has an internal IIOP listener and embedded JVM which can run stored
Java procedure, corba server, EJB and right now, it is upgraded t
