I just installed oracle8i 8.1.7. on win2k. how come
it runs so slow? and the interface looks like java panel
is the core of oracle is written in java? And it always
hang. (DBA studio specially).
BTW the computer is pentium III 500 and ram 128. I
don't see no reason it should perfom like this.
And a lot of times I tried to connet to database
using DBA studio, I typed some wrong password, it
again hangs there and does not respond forever.
oracle sucks.

yell, orcale was rewritten by java.

128M memory is not enough lah, at least 256M, 4G harddisk

well, if you wanna to use that dba studio,
you are expected for delay. DBA studio is developed
by java, and your hardware is tooo....week fora oracle
server. Well, honestly, you can run a oracle server
on such machine,
login using sql plus and do all your work there. But for
that ugly GUI DBA studio, your hardware is too week to
handle it.
A good idea is to run a linux box(586is enough) install a oracle
there and use your desktop to logon to that box,
save some lagtime.
