Oracle 8.1.7 is installed on Win2k.
It always fails when I run Oracle after restart the machine.
I have reinstalled it for a couple of times, but it doesn't help.
Any suggestions?

12541:tns:no listener

it could be couple of things. you need config listener to make the app talks
to the database. it is like an address for a general database instance.

Can you confirm that the TNS lister is running by checking Task Manager
->Process?
If the TNS listener is not running, Then
either you installed it but failed to configure it to run automatically
or you didn't install it successfully.
In the first case, you can start it in services and applications and set it to
start automatically.
In the second case, you may need to re-install oracle.
Suggestions:
1. In the Services and Applications, you can check whether you have the TNS
listener installe

There are two possibilities:
. tnsnames.ora or listener.ora is not configured correctly
. the listener service is not up: you can find tnslsnr.exe and run it

what you mean "it failes"?Did you create a database?
After restart you can't connect to that database, right?
I met with this problem before, I am not sure if yours come from the same
reason.My database always kindly like "Crash" everytime after reboot.
I tried google and finally I got the answer is to install a patch file.
p1507768_171_WINNT.rar. You can get it from metalink or google it.
I still have a copy.
try google "patch 1507768" see if that's the problem. I also changed some

open a command prompt and type: lsnrctl stat
It may tell you where it is wrong.
If it is not running then:
lsnrctl start
If it IS running, then you configured the listener incorrectly.
