1、长城
远看长城，像一条长龙，在崇山峻岭之间蜿蜒盘旋。从东头的山海关到西头的嘉峪关，

从北京出发，不过几十公里就来到长城脚下。这一段长城修筑在八达岭上，高大坚固，
是用
巨大的条石和城砖筑成的。城墙顶上铺着方砖，十分平整，像很宽的马路，五六匹马可
以并行。
城墙外沿有两米多高的成排的垛子，垛子上有方形的了望口和射口，供了望和射击用。
城墙顶
上，每隔三百多米就有一座方形的城台，是屯兵的堡垒。打仗的时候，城台之间可以互

应。
站在长城上，踏着脚下的方砖，扶着墙上的条石，很自然地想起古代修筑长城的劳动人民
来。单看这数不清的条石，一块有两三千斤重。那时候没有火车、汽车，没有起重机，
就靠着无
数的肩膀无数的手，一步一步地抬上这陡峭的山岭。多少劳动人民的血汗和智慧，才凝
结成这前
不见头、后不见尾的万里长城。
这样气魄雄伟的工程，在世界历史上是一个伟大的奇迹。

人们都说：“桂林山水甲天下”。我们乘着木船荡漾在漓江上，来观赏桂林的山水。
我看见过波澜壮阔的大海，玩赏过水平如镜的西湖，却从没看见过漓江这样的水。漓江

这是一个判断DBA有没有一个好的习惯，是基本素质测试：
Your network team called for DBA's help. The network engineer maintains
their own SQL Server 2005 standard edition server. There are a few
databases running on that server. They used maintenance wizard to create a
couple of backup jobs. One is daily full backup job for all users' database
and one is log backup job running every 1 hour for all users' database. They
found that the log backup job has been failed since two days ago.

really good question!
1. Ask who did that and why. The first thing jump into my mind is that the
device where stores the log file might lack of space. if so, try to increase
space or consider moving the log file to another device with enough space
if possible.
2. check to see if any bulk operation is running, DO NOT switch recovery
model while bulk operation is running.
3. after 1 and 2 are clear, start switch.
4. do a full/diff back up immediately right after switch.

第一步从error message里可以看出, 不是space的问题....
要是我就直接从你的第二步开始....

No sir, the error message would not tell you the space issue since the
current
recovery model is simple. As a DBA, at least I would like to know who any
why
the guy did the change. If this SQL Server does a lot of bulk operation such
as
bulk data load, the log file is very easily expand to a big size within one
hour.

如果是磁盘空间不够，会有9002报错。
第二点很好。
最后一点是关键。否则Log backup job 会一直失败直到下一次full backup。
