it is true the newer office applications have some defect due to WPF, but
just bought an Windows 8 laptop from ASUS (which is ultra slim), and the
user experience is really good. I didn't even bother installing firefox or
chrome. the new ie is very fast actually. I was concerned of not being able
to get used to windows 8, but I would say win8 is more user friendly than
mac, the typing search is a killer.Install sql 2012 and visual studio 2012
is fast and smooth. upgrading from win7 to win8 is no brainer.
I actually played with the windows surface book in Microsoft store, except
for not having retina resolution, the surface book is also very good. the
hardware feels solid and well designed.
if Microsoft dies with all these great efforts, then it doesn't make sense
to me...

forgot to mention the security monitor integration is well thought too : I
downloaded a rar file that I thought to be some legal installer, but
security center detected it as malware and removed it; all without the
hassle of going to security center and check and agree whatever, the user
experience is beyond expectation for any computer system.
I know I sound like a M$ sales, but just what I think after usage..

Who cares about win8? I can do most of my day-to-day work using a browser.
IE should comply to W3C long ago, now, it seems the game for IE is over. For
many people, the only purpose for IE is to download FF or Chrome.

win8用在可触摸屏幕还不错，laptop上用它，就是受罪。

Browser apps are gay weak. When I use gmail I can neither sort nor
view all the mails I have. Everything is limited by one lame page
of 50 mails only. I have to use a desktop client such Windows Live
Mail to get the acceptable user experience I want.

I rarely uses gmail, outlook.com is very good, I can check email any time
using desktop, cell phone and tablet, anywhere when there is Internet
connection.
