Just read one article about Whidbey talking about generic types in functions,
classes to make intellisense work etc. Anyone would like to discuss about it?
Will it be first used in VB 8.0? When will VB 8.0 be released?

Whidbey is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It offers much more than I expected.
I will make a MSDN subscription if I have to.

The Whidbey Alpha is already impressive enough for me to pay $1000 to buy it.

Whidbey is planned to be released in P2 FY2004.
The code name includes the release of C++, C#, VB, J#,
VSS 2004, and .NET FX v2.0.
A new C++ syntax (MC^2) will be introduced in Whidbey,
which is a pure managed language (runs completely on GC
heap). As far as intellisense goes, it's hard to predict
how good it will be at this time. We just hope it can
meet people's expectation.

just came back from a presentation by a MSFT MVP
about Whidbey and Yukon. It was really cool.
i really like the new Edit and Run feature.
Design,development and deployment became so much
easier compared to what we have in 1.x.
Yukon is in Beta now but Whidbey is still in Alpha.
and it is not quite stable yet. it crashed several
times in the 2.5-hour presentation.

What are you expecting, it's Alpha. people can accept that.
MS maybe suck before, but on Whidbey, man, it rocks.
I don't like Yukon very much though.
It's definitely a lock down. You will never be able to switch to other
database vendor once you started with Yukon.
There has to be a ISO-9000 or some committee to regulate the database
behavior, so SQL server/Oracle can compete fairly, though Oracle sucks, but MS
strategy is too agressive.
We have the C# standardized, when can we have RDBMS stand

RDBMS doesn't have to be standardized but rather the languages used
by RDBMS could.
