My questions are
1)During 485 pending, your H1B is expired and you are in AOS. Is it possible
to resume your H1B by filing an H1B extension?
2)When you change employer after 180 days of 485 pending and you are in AOS
before the change, is it possible to resume your H1B by filing an H1B
extension (or transfer) through the new employer?
I think this is a very important issue concerning H1B backup for pending 485.

#1. 如果AOS是使用EAD（因为H1B expired），No。
#2. AOS 如果是使用AP，可以通过renew、transfer 重新获得H1B。

Thank you for answering my questions. I assume there is a time gap between,
even through applying for a H1B visa, is it possible to resume H1B status?

可以重新申请。但是我理解的要满足6年以后需离境的要求。否则为什么不直接用EAD？

这满足H1B extend beyond 6 years的标准之一：有已经批准的I140. 好像条例上没有
提到必须是在expire之前file吧？那为什么不可以呢？

有了approved的140不需要离境了吧？如果用了EAD，万一由于某原因485被拒了，要换
回H1b争取时间再交一次485呢？

for any change of status, in addition to any requirement you must satisfy of
the status changing into, you must also have a "lawful status" at
the point such application is filed. Parolee , AOS , and other like refugee
pending are all "unlawful" status (see USCIS FAM , this sounds harsh
but is true) but you are authorized to stay under these status and you do
not gain unlawful presence. you shall be able to reinstate h1b anyway
through obtaining visa abroad and come back - however if you use your EAD
based on pending AOS after admitted as H1B status , you enter AOS
automatically.

1. 同一employer先延期，然后你要出境去签H1B VISA 回来，然后admitted as h1b.这
个的前提是你用EAD了。如果用AP，就不用出境了。
2. new employer 需要sponsor你h1b，(也就是要transfer了）然后你出境签证h1b回
来，admitted as h1b。

需要离境回来，以H1B visa身份入境。
因为你之前已经是authorized stay (AOS), 也就是out of status，换个身份回来就好
了。
用ap的话，不用离境了。

It is not ZHE TENG. Just want to keep H1B as a safety backup while 485 is
pending. So anyway in order to save the trouble, the best way is
1. extend H1B as usual,
2. and forget about AP and EAD. Maybe using AP is OK? You can still extend
your H1B with your current employer after using AP. In one day after your
coming back with using AP, then you are laid off and your H1B is almost
expired. In one month or two you find another job. I guess in this situation
you have to use EAD and you can't transfer H1B with the new employer
because you were not in H1B previously due to using AP. So your H1B is gone.

ap 回到H1B。
也不知道你的担心在什么地方？你只要能在USCIS需要你证明工作的时候，你能证明，
就没问题了。

配偶H1B，跟着也交了485，但是自己没有140批准。这种情况就要考虑时间是否计入。
