2.5G standards, trying to finalize it this year. still doing V&V.
eg., for EDGE.
2. for 3G, 3GPP submitted the TS series to ETSI/ANSI, now is still
waiting for finalizing the deal and some V&V.
3. for UMTS R99, it was finalized, but R00 is far on the raod (say
mid 2001)
4. for the speed, the bottleneck is radio path transmission,

Agree it is misleading stuff, haha, i think 4g's characteristic should
be multimedia service, which will be a packet switched network(which 3g is
aiming for...) 3GPP is a bunch of Asian/European vendors, among the standards
GPRS, UTRA, ARIB will go toward WCDMA, edge won't 3GPP2 is North American main
stream
CDMA2000 will be an advanced meanwhile coexisting with IS-136-->UWC136 path whic
the info maybe old, just FYI, I think 3G is underway, it takes several years
but it is coming up. 3GPP2 ha
