我的本意是，大部分人的 PhD RESEARCH 都挺没意义的。
属于以下几种情况：
1。领域里没有啥好搞的了。
2。文章出了，没人看，或，几年候，就没人看。
都是无足轻重的东西。
举例来说，我就觉的通迅领域(COMMUNICATION) 和网络(NETWORKING)领域里没有啥好搞
的。我不提工作前景。

其实我是开玩笑的.
但是, 什么是有意义呢? 我觉得不能简单的说, 有人看, 有人用, 甚至转化
成产品, 就是有意义. 当然这些的确有意义, 但是以此为标准的话,
M$的windows最有意义了, 是吧?
本来做研究就是一个一代代人积累的过程. 象galois那样从头做起, 一下子
直指问题中心得到一个最有意义的结果的研究是十分罕见的.

my research belongs to applied research, the results can be used immediately
in industry. Overall I think my research is Okay, although sometimes I do
feel it's kind of too detail. But considering the vast amount of EE divisions,
the individual research field is indeed very narrow.
It's not very difficult to come up with an improved version of the existing
one, as many Ph.D. have done (I guess), but it's very difficult to do a
quality work which provides superior performance and is Practical or

I heard about this analogy a while ago. Research fields are like crop fields.
At the beginning, a new field is discoverd, everybody rushes to it. And the
good thing is that whichever direction you go, you can find something. But
very soon, since so many people went there, fewer and fewer crops are left.
The people who are coming late have to pick the directions carefully to make
sure he can get something. The still later people can probably just pick up
some left-over grains.
Feels pretty true t

Like BBS, somebody only posts high-quality stuff, somebody waters a lot. Both
kinds of persons are important. BBS would not have exists if nobody watered,
neither does EE.
