if you got serious problem to get started, ask the advisor if he can suggest
anyone you can talk to.
other than that, couple of suggestions/comments
(1)我承认自己能力有限 - it's not about you ability, everybody has this
process, take it easy, don't burn yourself
(2)很快地上升到一个水平 - don't think so. 上升到一个水平 is the ultimate goal,
it takes time.
(3)start from small things that you can handle. After a while you'll find that
you're getting insight into some "bigger" issue and all that seemingly wasted
time becomes
