Hi , I tried many times , finally get registered in MITBBS . The most place
I want to come is here : Education . I just finished my students teaching
( in ESL) and begin to look for jobs in New York City . The filed I'm
looking for is to teach Bilingual Chinese, or ESL . Currently, I don't live
in NYC .Any ideas on how to start searching the publich school positions in
NYC are welcome !
For example, I heard the NYC DOE require letters of recommendation , how
many letters are enough ?

Are you currently on OPT, H1-B or do you have green card?

Thanks for the replying , Laukeen. Luckly, our family just got the green
card . But still, the process of getting a teaching position is not that
easy compare to other professions , regarding the certification,
applications , and several rounds of interviews ...... I am just starting
the process, seems a little bit late at this time though .

Register in clta-gny. Do the net-working. It is important to know someone
who is the Chinese teacher already. They will give you a lot of inside
information. If you have a green card and endorsement in Chinese, it is not
too difficult to locate a chinese teacher's job.

Thanks for the information , zhizipp. I will search for that. Just consider
the endorsement in Chinese, I don't have a certificate in Chinese teaching,
just qualifiied for ESL . I do have part-time Chinese teaching experience
though. Will that help, too? ( And in what kind of school, public school or
private school ?)

One of my friend got a Chinese teacher job offer in a very good private
school in long island area. She has a PHD degree in Foreign Language
Education. The benefit package the school offered is very good, about 90K
per year. She ended up with rejecting this offer before she sign up the
contract, and she will be back to Taiwan to be a professor in a University.
About two weeks ago, she said the school is still looking for somebody to
fill in this position, and she also mentioned that the school w

Thanks , wyfyyz (彩云间) ! It's seems not too late. But I didn't find many
job ads on that . If you have any information about that , please let me
