一个多月前申请了本地一所私立学校的中文教师职位，今天正在外面Shopping呢，接到
学校电话，想跟我谈谈。我说能不能约在一个多小时后，等我回到家。对方很Nice，说
不行的话周末也可以，于是就越了周日下午。我问需要准备什么吗，对方说主要是谈谈
自己教中文的经历以及how to teach high school student
前一个没问题，如实说即可，后一个问题，非常没把握。因为从来没教过高中生（教过
几年小学和成人），听说美国的高中生特别难教，动不动就challenge老师，不知道有
没有同学能指点一下，该如何准备这个问题呢？

我个人认为教高中生因该是be respectful,be nice and firm. treat them like
adults, but they are actually not adults, 所以要still need to 强调课堂纪律.
If there is misbehear in the classroom,you need to address is right away
before it develops to a big issue, some time even stop the lesson to talk
about the situation.
well orgnized and well planed lesson will be able to keep them fully engaged.
我昨天复习的时候，看到了一篇讲Gordon的classroom management的文章觉得挺受启发
，发到这里大家做个参考。

谢谢楼上MM。今天电面了，主要问题是：
谈谈以前的工作经验，中西方教学有何不同，你的学生喜欢你么。。。
然后大致介绍了一下学校的情况，我也问了一下class size, teaching load之类的情
况。对方说会跟我约一个一整天的campus interview...

I teach Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus in a high school for about
two years. I don't think they are tough at all. As a matter of fact, I
think they are quite reasonable. To me, clear my expectation at the very
beginning, really makes a healthy school year.
Remember, you are not their friends, you are the professional academic
consular. Clear your expectation and be strict not mean on it.

谢谢楼上两位。因为下学期他们只开一个Session，所以可能是Part time的职位。
Part time的话是否按小时付工资？备课的时间怎么算呢？Part time是否不能享受很多
benifit?

我也不大清楚part time，你要是能工作，可以去做sub呀，加上part time不就行了。

High school students in a private school, Chinese class... Honestly I would
not be worried at all. Those kids would take your class as part of their AP
(Advanced Placement) requirement, so they can be admitted into good colleges
. College-bound kids are sweet.
On the other hand, not sure if you have green card... Part time job cannot
qualify for H1-B I thought.

是的，我实习的AP music theory class的学生都挺可爱的，他们都很努力学习的，没
有纪律问题。而且私立高中应该更好吧，他们可都是交了钱去读书的呀。

另外美国高中是否没有固定的班级，学生像大学里一样自己选课？

Substitude teacher, 说白了就是babysitter,你到你们那儿的学区申请，一般来讲他
们都会需要有很多sub的，老师们要是有事请就回叫你去，他们会留条子告诉你让你干
什么

我没教师证，估计不能去公立学校吧。。。
而且我除了中文，别的也不会教啊，blush...

我除了教音乐别的也不会，但是据说sub不用教，先点名，然后就是你把任课教师留给
你的任务，比如做作业第X页第X题往黑板上一抄，然后保证学生别太乱别打架就行了。

我有点好奇哦，读音乐教育以前是不是有一定的音乐背景？比如会一种乐器，有相当的
乐理知识等等？

是的，必须通过audition,我在国内就是读的这个当时是必须通过audition才能高考报
我们音乐系的志愿，audition包括唱两个歌，plan an instrument, 再有就是视唱练耳
和乐理考试，这边我在enroll master program之前要有entrance exam which
includes music theory and histroy,然后我的audition 又唱了3首歌。就这样混入了
美国的大学。
